• The only reasonthat this company was set up was so that it could eventually be liquidated, there is no doubt about that in my mind.....it was so obvious when I spoke to the moron a couple of weeks ago on the phone that he was a fraudster, and also the dodgy names he kept giving to people, like he told someone he was called John John. It is obvious that he is an asian man, so why make names up if he is at all innocent...I gave him a load of grief and then he had the cheek to say to me, 'I havent done anything thats against the law'.
By the way I rang the police up yesterday again, and they tried telling me that it was a civil matter, but I wasnt having any of it this time. I stood my ground and said that I had spoken to the Official Receivers and that they ASSURED me that this was a criminal matter. So they rang me back after speaking to one of the seniors and they took all the details, although I could sense that they werent too hopeful. They gave me a crime reference number and I told them that I would get all the other victims to ring in, so unless we all ring in, they wont do much about it. But if they have lots of calls then they will HAVE to take notice

Hi,can you give me the crime reference number as my wife phoned Leicester police and they were very vague about the matter and officer said it's a civil matter the wife explained about the forum and was told to phone Leicester police she was then cut off .She rang back got someone else but still no joy just got told if i she wanted to take it further she had to get a solicitor.

That is pretty much what happened to me. I didn't even get to report it officially, but then I am rather poorly so didn't have the fight in me.

Have emailed PKF with no response (emailed tuesday).

Will contact OR on monday.
• LOOK - is there anyone out there who was a creditor of HOME FURNISHING LTD. that went into liquidation last year. I cannot locate a copy of the Creditors Report on the web and am not sure PKF would volunteer a copy, only to actual creditors I would suspect. I would love to know what the chairman’s report said. Link between Furniture Deal and Home Furnishing is Asif/Asim Haroon Alimohamed. Cannot find Asif or Azim in births records in UK (possibly immigrants) but we have located Asif getting married. Will check marriage records on Monday at local library. May come up with a little more info. Hopefully will have some imput then. Home Furnishing Ltd., as I can gather moved from 203 Belgrave Gate to Basford Warehouse, Derby Road, DE75 7QL before they were liquidated. The same location that Hansons of Leicester currently operate from under the managing directorship of Asim Alimohamed. I think these guys have been playing monopoly!!!!
• Dolly Rocket,

I know you are on your death bed, but looking at the case in the cold light of day, I think that you, and those that transacted with Furniture Deal on the 3rd of September, and those that had their monies banked by the company thereafter are the only ones that have a good chance of proving definitely that they (the company) knew they did not have a chance of fulfilling the orders as they, (on that very same day, contacted the liquidator to discuss voluntary winding up of the business)(in my opinion). The likelihood is that they were aware that there was a significant chance they could not fulfil orders some considerable time before then because of the continual fobbing off customers experienced, but for the purposes of reporting the fraud, I would suggest that you have more credence. That is not to say everyone shouldn’t try to get it across what has been happening because there is definitely the wiff of something very suspicious!!!

Get well soon.

Hi Rippoff victim

This is very interesting. I have been trying since last week to find out if anyone has had any positive response from Leceister CID 0116 222 2222 to no avail. My thoughts are that you make a direct call to them, refer to the crime reference given to Angry Victim and follow it up with the information you have just posted. If as Hatton 1265 says, he has received a call from them then I think we may finally be getting through to them. As I said, they can't just ignore that many complaints. I would like to know more about how you sourced this info so I can help with some digging of my own. I checked the BMD last week, but found however, the info on the marriage may help on genes re-united or BMD. Keep it going, there is bound to be something that falls into place eventually. Another thought, PKF, have they been checked out?

I agree with your comments to Dolly-Rocket. Inerestingly, I placed an order on 21st July 09 .. no invoice by the way, only order confirmation number! After nearly two weeks, concerned that the order wouldn't be with me before I went on holiday, I tried contacting them. Eventually, I received an email (I gave up trying to get home before their "online customer service - live chat" went down). I was told my order would be delivered once in stock. Because I wouldn't go away and kept on pestering them I eventually was told that the goods would be with me before I went on holiday. They then changed their minds and finally, I ended up with a massive row. The emails, I have kept, but unforunately the telephone conversations were never recorded. I can honestly say that I have never been spoken to by such arrogant and rude people. Needless to say that after a promised delivery date AFTER I had gone on holiday, I returned in middle of Sept ... yep you guessed...no goods and no chance of a refund (debit card payment). Like others I discovered the truth of the whole nasty affair when I found the website had gone down and no means of tracing my order or speaking to anyone. I feel certain that re-reading my emails that they were just blagging about my order in what must have been close to 6 weeks BEFORE they took Dolly-Rockets order/money. There must be others with the same story, that we can encourage to send to the police to help support the crimes against us, don't you think?

Anyone interested in this article I've just found? Perhaps another avenue to keep the saga alive?

"They say sorry seems to be the hardest word. However today we publish a story of an apology from the boss of furnituredeal.co.uk whose firm has collapsed, leaving many Leicestershire customers out of pocket.
While we do not know what comfort Asif Alimohamed's words will offer people who have lost cash, it is rare for a such a frank apology to be made and it is good to hear.
We wish trading standards well with their investigation in to the collapse of the business and hope everyone affected gets their money back".

I have received a refund of my money having luckily paid for the goods with visa. However, it still rankles that this company is getting away with it, so I scanned the web and all the free company data sites I could find – know your enemy!

Firstly, Home Furnishings Ltd trading as Furniture Discount Warehouse, which was (operating from 203 Belgrave Gate) went into voluntary liquidation 28/7/2008 the Liquidators of which were at Pannell house, so obviously PKF. 203 Belgrave gate is on the same block as Grovenor street, the address of Furniture deal on our invoice.

The director of this company was Imtiaz Alimohamed who previously was a director of a company called Liquidell Bedding and Furniture Ltd which was struck off and dissolved on 3/8/99. He is also a shareholder of ASI properties, and was a director but resigned on 1/4/09. Remember, ASI was a creditor of FD UK and seemed to own their properties. Sabina Alimohamed is also a shareholder of ASI. There is a guy called Salim Alimohamed who was a shareholder in Home Furnishings and Liquidell who applied for planning permission to change the use of 203 Belgrave Gate from a furniture warehouse to what is now the Leicester Exhibition Centre Ltd (approval received 02/7/2008)(note Home furnishings liquidated 22 days later), a shareholder of which is Mohamed Bilal Asif Alimahomed (note spelt differently). Salim was a director of ASI Operating at the same location at 203 is a caf! that is owned by another Mohamed Alimohamed , the company is called Majlis Gardens Ltd.. H.F. Containers Ltd is live with director Saffiya Alimohamed .

Asim Haroon Alimohamed, who has the same date of birth as Asif Haroon Alimohamed. only a letter difference in their names,is a director and shareholder of Hansons of Leicester which is still operating. Either they are twins, or they are the same man. Does anybody out there have access to births records for 15th August 1963 to check this out. (subscriptions to Genes Reunited would probably do it.). Most of these businesses have a registered address of 50 Woodgate who just so happen to be the address of Smith Hannah.Ltd, Accountants who prepared the statement of affairs in the PKF notice to creditors.

So there we are, quite a family connection!

Just been through this last email of yours and it reminded me of a previous posting, way way back about someone going to FD's premises and being told that the person they were talking to represented the liquidators. That prompt and, that I knew I had seen something recently about Smith Hannahs convinced me that whatever you have uncovered about this Mottley Lot you should most definately pass on to Leicester CID. Alimohamed's statement never did sound like it was written by someone clued up in the business world and now that I have re-read the above, I am more convinced than ever that we absolutely must raise our complaints at a much higher level. We really MUST get the experts in this field involved, £554,000+ owed, imagine what the treasury would do about it if it was their money!!! .
Everyone, please make those calls to the fraud line, cab, and above all Leicester CID.

Dolly-Rocket. Hope your better soon.

Well I managed to save up another £100 towards beds and got two kids beds this weekend at argos.com as they are having a 50% sale on some of their beds. Just need to save up for mattresses and my bed now!
