if they also trade as Hanson ltd then i'm sure they have been trying to sell n ebay as I 'm sure there was a company selling furniture last week on ebay and this name immediately rings bells0

hi we too bought furniture from furniture deal back in july and we paid £385 by direct debit. We were told that the goods would be with them within 2 weeks and they would contact us regarding delivery.since then we have received about 3 emails apologising for the inconvenience and we would receive them on various different dates. We were then given a delivery date after threatening to take legal action but surprise they didnt show up that was on thursday 10th. We contacted them by phone and were told company had gone into liquidation.now in the process of chasing up money through bank forms! THESE GUYS HAVE BANK DETAILS!Will they trade those as well or am i just being paranoid?0

After reading that many of you had got in touch with watchdog I also wrote to them so maybe they will expose this shower for what they are robbing B*****ds.
I haven't received anthing more from them since the email the other day saying they were in liquidation. Dont expect to hear anymore from them.0 -
I bank with HSBC and paid furniture deal by debit maestro card, I have been in touch with my bank and they tell me they do not do chargeback the only way to get my money is to get the supplier to give me a refund transaction receipt (basically furniture direct agreeing to refund), which is not going to happen, I then complained to the bank and told her they had taken by money fraudently because they had taken by money and have never even ordered my goods from their supplier (Furniture Deal admitted this when I told him I knew who his supplier was and then I would check). The bank are now issuing out a disclaimer for me to sign for fraud. I am however still not guaranteed my money back.0

Thats brilliant Hatton, hopefully others can do the same. I paid by electron and my bank said I have to do a formal appeal to Visa, so no guarantees there either.0

Well i have bought and sold on ebay for years and have never had a problem yet, maybe just been lucky.
Most transactions go fine (apart from Paypal being expensive and slow). But it's on the rare occasion that there is a problem, then Paypal are useless. And as a business seller I hate them with a passion due to their very very poor security.

I also received this same letter today....
When I rang furniture deal yesterday I told him I wanted my furniture that was in stock, he then told me it had not arrived in - I therefore asked why a delivery time of 2 weeks was quoted. I knew who the supplier of my dining room table was so I told the guy at Furniture Deal that I would check with the supplier direct he then admitted that Furniture Deal had never placed the order with the supplier - I therefore told him that was fraud because he has taken my money without any intention of ordering my furniture, if he had never ordered it I was never ever going to get it. I therefore informed the bank of this and they asked me if I wanted to take it as a fraud item on my account so this is what I am going for.0 -

In the broadest sense, a fraud is an intentional deception made for personal gain or to damage another individual. The specific legal definition varies by legal jurisdiction. Fraud is a crime, and is also a civil law violation. If they took your money with no intension of obtaining the item/s from the manufacturer then it is Fraud. BUT you need evidence of a deliberate act. Unless a conversation of admittance is recorded it is gonna be difficult to prove from just the conversation. Taking money months ago and not placing the order with the manufacturers is easy to prove. You have the receipt of your order with furnituredeals. The manufacturers can be contacted to confirm or deny any order placed. One factor is going to be - when did they know they were going to go 'belly up'. To take money promising delivery, knowing it was impossible to fulfill an order is an offense. So many if's, but's and maybe's. The hardest thing is going to get your local CID to investigate as it more than likely involves foreign companies. They will probably try and fob you off with it being a civil matter. Good luck if you go ahead with it - if you don't try, you won't know!0
