Customer Deposits and Payments
The director of the above Company having regard for the financial position has decided to
commence Liquidation proceedings.
The Company is not in a position to complete orders placed by the customers. Below is a guideline for customers. It is also recommended that you contact the Citizens Advice Bureau
Payments by Credit Card
If you have paid by credit card, please contact your credit card company to establish if you can receive a refund. If the payment is more than £100, your credit company may be equally liable.
If a credit card company refunds monies to a customer in respect of undelivered furniture, then the credit card company becomes a subrogated creditor of the Company i.e. it steps into the shoes of the original creditor.
Payments by debit card, cheque, cash, credit notes.
The protection available to credit card customers does not apply to debit cards, where the money comes directly from your bank account
However, a Visa debit card is covered by Visa's debit card chargeback scheme which allows you to claim money back if goods do not arrive or if they are damaged. In order to claim, you must approach your bank within 120 days to complain that there has been a problem with the transaction.
Chargeback is a process by which your bank goes about claiming compensation from the supplier's bank, not the supplier. Chargeback is Visa's internal policy, so it may be subject to change.
If you are not able to recover your payment you will have an unsecured claim against the Company.
Holders of credit notes will also be treated as unsecured creditors.
If you have recovered your payment from your credit card company or Bank please confirm this by email providing your credit card company / bank's name and the amount recovered (fumituredeal.dms_live©dms.uk.pkf.com).
Unsecured creditors are entitled to attend the meeting of creditors on 24 September 2009 as detailed in the attached notice. Information presented at the meeting and details of the matters arising at the meeting will be provided to the creditors on the appointment of the Liquidator.
Although there is no requirement to complete the attached proxy form or notify us that you will be attending the meeting, it would be helpful if you can advise us by completing the proxy form or sending an email to fumituredeal.dms_live©dms.uk.pkrcom.

Wonder if I'll get it as I've recieved bu**er all so far!
Had a look at The Display Deal website. On first inspection I thought we had it wrong as it seemed so reputable. Then I delved further and its obvious that its the same gang (I'm calling them a gang now).
That blog bit is a bit weird too. Probably not wise to put up titles like Terrorism with links to Kabul and Hussein.0 -
Meant to say, that letter is all well and good and they didn't have to send it BUT that does not make it right to continue taking orders and lying to people when you are about to go under. Trust me I've been there, but the difference is I had morals and got out before it became wrong.0
-
So they have officially gone into VL, interesting.
They rang me today, (yes they rang me!) to inform me that my furniture will be delivered tomorrow as they were honouring any orders which were in stock, is this still legal in VL or should they shut up shop?0 -
hi guys....please make sure you do not shop from display deal....something is not right with that one it is definitely the same people as furniture deal in my opinion. i have a feeling that display deal is run by the same people, but not many of us are as aware of this as we should be0

dolly rocket....these people dont have a decent bone in their body, the only reason they sent this letter out is probably because they have to do that by law, and also they want to trick some of the more naive and gullible customers in to thinking that the company was having genuine financial problems.
they come out with so many pathetic lies that they cant even remember what they lied about so they contradict themselves every 10 seconds. i dont think they ever had problems, i think they deliberately made it appear as though they were having problems so that they could liquidate the business. who knows th liquidators may be in on this also as they may have told the furniture deal lot that they will help liquidate their business as long as they can have a share of their big fat profit...it would not surprise me0 -
and also....i think that they deliberatelt set this company up as a ltd company because they knew that when the would have the business liquidated, it would automatically mean that the business is a separate legal entity meaning that they would be able to keep all their possessions and money, and only the business would go...therefore they have made a fortune as they have probably aqcuired a good few houses and flash cars on their names safe in the knowledge that they would never lose them to the company.0

Yes this company is definately the same they use the same company house registration number and VAT number which they are allowed to do. Display Deal is not a limited company. I was advised by consumer direct to send a recorded letter to both furniture deal and display deal requesting a refund because they are one of the same company. Home Furnishing Ltd is also registered at the same address as Display Deals, however companies house is showing Home Furnishing Ltd has gone into liquidation. Furniture Deals is still showing as active.0 -
I visited the Display Deal website and used the online chat with the sales/customer care team. As soon as I mentioned Furniture Deal to them they closed the website down. They also trade as Hansons Ltd based at the same FDW Warehouse in Derbyshire as Display.0
