Yes, you read the title right
Following my error the other day, and having mused on the idea in the past anyway - I decided to make pizza dough in the breadmaker - but instead of hauling it out to use as a pizza base I would actually cook it on a full bread making program.
So I made the basic pizza dough recipe but deliberately using self raising flour instead of plain and then put it on the basic loaf program.
It makes a lovely loaf! Honest!
I'm going to try this for rolls next.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. You used s.r flour & yeast together? Did it explode lol? Or come out puffier than normal?"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
A good crust and the bread was light, fluffy, yet chewy. It worked a treat.

This may seem like a daft question, but what is the different between pizza dough and bread dough?
I've been baking my own bread from scratch for a few months now and really enjoy the process. Today is bread baking day - hooray
But my mum is coming to visit at the weekend and I thought it would be fun to make pizza together for dinner on Saturday night (always bought frozen before).
Can I put some of my bread dough aside today (I read it can be frozen? is that right?) to make into a pizza base on Saturday? Or would it be best to make a pizza dough fresh on Saturday?
Also, I don't have a pizza stone or tray ... can I just use an ordinary flat baking tray or should I go out and buy a proper round pizza tray with the holes in it?
Thanks!Pennies make pounds.

Yes, you can do that
Pizza dough generally has a bit of olive oil in it. but I don't think it makes much difference. If you are Italian you might disagree!
Bread dough does freeze well, so saving some of your batch today would be a good idea.
I use ordinary baking trays for pizzas- I generally make mine rectangular to fit my tray, but any shape works.0 -
Bread dough has too much yeast in it to use as a pizza base.
You will end up with a large bun with some cheese and stuff on top0 -
Excellent - thanks Thriftlady.
Was going to ask some questions about at what stage to freeze it and what to do when it comes out of the freezer, but found this excellent page which explains everything

I always make up special pizza dough.....the recipe is in the booklet that came with the machineWe don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0

Oooh - conflicting views!
I suppose if my pizza turns out like a bun with cheese and stuff on the top it would cause some amusement .... but I'm sure it would still taste good
I choose not use a machine for my dough even though we have one - much prefer to do it by hand. Somewhat paradoxically since I stopped using the machine, I make bread more often!! Been trying to persuade Mr OneDay to let me sell the machine but he's hanging on to it ... don't know why, it's not like he ever just bungs bread on to surprise me or anythingPennies make pounds.

We often use part of our bread dough for pizza's. Like in the instruction thing you found we don't second rise for the pizza. Just stretch it out over a baking tray as thin as you can without holes (oil the tray first so it comes of easily), some tomato puree (slightly watered down) and mozzarella plus whatever extra toppings you want. Easy, and yum.
We also have a pastry pizza base recipe we use which is nice and slightly different. If your interested in it just let me know & i'll get it up0
