Bread dough has too much yeast in it to use as a pizza base.

You will end up with a large bun with some cheese and stuff on top :)
I can assure you you won't, unless you are using a bread recipe that has an excessive amount of yeast. I use 1 tsp (5-7g) of easy-blend yeast to 1.5lb (680g) flour for a plain loaf of bread. This recipe for pizza dough uses a lot more yeast 7g to 350g flour.

I don't let the dough for pizza have a second rise. Mix, knead, rise for about 1.5 hours, roll, top and bake.

I use the same bread recipe for flatbreads too. They never turn out like buns.

For what its worth, the leaflet for my old breadmaker (Hinari) says to use the same recipe for pizza dough as for bread rolls; but the new one (Panasonic) gives a different recipe, and a different programme in the breadmaker. (I hope that made sense).

  • I did a batch of pizza dough in my Morphy Richards breadmaker this afternoon. It was done at 4.30pm. But, as I ended up having to go out, I've not taken it out until now (nearly 12.30am). I've put the dough in the fridge - in a bowl and covered with cling film.

Would the dough be okay to use tomorrow? Or, shall I just start again with a fresh batch?

It should be fine, just look on it as having had a long first rising! Knock it back and shape as usual, top and bake!
