I opened a premier account in April when i switched my ISA to them.

They honoured my RBS £2700 overdraft limit as soon as i showed them proof, which was a print out of my online RBS page with the bar code on it.

And yes i used about £2200 of the overdraft to max out this years ISA which i can claw back about £300-500 pm.

I applied in the branch for both the premier account and ISA so no bonus for me but they were very helpful and everything went smoothly. I don't think i've had to call them for any reason and i do everything online which is the way i like it.

    Chaps,

Has anyone ascertained whether one can get the £100 bonus and open a 12% Regular Saver acct?

Your employer would have been able to tell you that surely?

After all, if you're paid by BACS Direct Credit your employer will have submitted the salaries batch yesterday.

So is the opinion that it helps if you transfer you salary over? I was going to switch the one DD I have with Barclays over to them as that's where I have my biggest overdraft but my salary is paid into my Nationwide account which has no overdraft so dont want them to know about that account. Should I just transfer my salary myself and tell them I am doing so?

Don't you always have to deal with changing where your salary goes, yourself?

The person who needs to physically change this, is whoever processes your payroll at work. Surely A&L won't ring your payroll department to advise the change, when you can tell them yourself?

EDIT: Sorry I've just noticed that they promise to move your salary on their advert. How on earth does that work?!
  • When you sign up you have to select there auto switching function when you get further into the application it then asks you.
Do you wish us to contact your bank and change over all direct debits and standing orders? (you must say yes to this)
Do you wish us to contact your employer to swich account? (up to you)
Do you want your old account closed? (up to you)

I opened an ISA with Barclays today and did not have the heart to say I was switching from them for my current account.
Lets get this straight. Say my house is worth £100K, it drops £20K and I complain but I should not complain when I actually pay £200K via a mortgage:rolleyes:

They send a form into your place of work, which they're supposed to process. HSBC, First Direct and Alliance and Leicester gave me such a form when I opened my accounts with them, which I didn't use. Personally, I'd say it's best to do it yourself, because knowing Alliance and Leicester, anything that could go wrong... ;)
