also does it have to be a current account that is switched or can i switch a flexisaver account?0

I switched to A &L a year or so ago, as I was cheesed off with the tiny amount of interest paid by Barclays whilst in credit and seduced by A&L's decent rate on the premier direct account. I transferred my direct debits and salary. They didn't transfer ALL of the direct debits as instructed, which was messy. They told me I could pay in at the post office, but post office wouldn't accept without their envelopes, which they didn't send me. They allowed £1800 OD facility, which I had before, but I have found that this has a sting in the tail as they seem to bill £5 per month for "use of agreed OD facility" - I often go a little overdrawn as my DD's come out at end of month and I am paid mid month...so this is resulting in me actually paying an awful lot for an inconvenient account....I'm afraid I am transferring everything back to Barclays now...glad I kept my account open!0

I want to open this account for £100
I have 2 sleeper accounts, one has no DD's so i guess i cannot use this? The other has 1 DD so could use that one although its the only account that i've had for a long time so worried it would affect my credit rating???
I wondered if i could set up a standing order to my wife or something on the sleeper account with no DD then I could use that one?? ie would one SO suffice?0 -
OK a few of questions.
How long does it take for the d/d s/o switching take?
Have you found the switch stress free?
Ive been accepted for an account, but not overdraft, but they said they may match my o/d that I have with Halifax. Is this likely as I really need an overdraft of at least 500 quid?
thanks0 -
I've also been accepted for an account and the letter I just got says Overdraft limit: £250. It then goes on to mention that their Premier Switching Service will match the overdraft limit that you had with your old bank (terms and conditions will apply). Does this mean that they will increase the measly £250 limit, since my current limit is £1500? Otherwise I will have to cancel the application0

Just spoken with A&L and thought I'd add the information to this thread
It was regarding the overdraft matching service - I've had the account for a while but no OD as of yet.
He said they need to see a 30 day statement from my old bank from within the last 3 months, which shows me to have been in credit for at least 2 days, with a minimum of 3 debit transactions, having paid at least £500 in, having not exceeded my agreed OD limit, as well as showing what the OD actually was. If my statement does not show the agreed OD, I need to get a letter from the bank stating it. If I was to print off a statement from online banking, the web address of the bank website must be displayed
Fingers crossed this gets sorted!!0
