I tried this a few months ago, worst thing I ever did. To get the £100, I understood that you had to use A&L online switching service to transfer all your DD & SO, which I did and planned to switch my income myself once all DD switching had taken place. My mistake was thinking I had to make sure I deposited £500 within the first 11 weeks of opening the account and from then on deposit £500 per month. I did deposit £500 within 11wks but was told I should have deposited this each month, so in actual fact you have to deposit £500 in the first month and every other month after that or you dont get the £100. Where's the 11 weeks come from?? One customer service advisor told me I had met the criteria, the next one told me I hadn't, she just kept saying that I hadn't paid in £500 per month. I have now received a letter to say I did not meet the criteria.0

I sent them a secure message (Log in, go to help -> contact us -> other ways to contact us -> send us a secure message). They replied and paid out the £100 to me the next day.
I cannot seem to do a secure message to them, when I fill in all the details and click on submit nothing happens, its so frustrating, I know i sohlud just bite the bullet and ring but i hate phones and get all nervous"You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -

However, I've always had success with my A&L complaints by ringing their Group Customer Relations department. The number, which isn't on their website anymore, is 0116 200 4444.0 -
Well... I managed to follow up on the situation by giving them a call. I was transferred to the switching department (I didn't know such a department existed), where I was then told I fit all the criteria for receiving the incentive (I.e. I credited my account with >£500 a month) and I should receive the payment around the 14th January. So fingers crossed :-)
If I receive this payment, I'll have tarted £175 from them. Firstly, I applied through Quidco for the £50 cashback. Then I forced a friend to recommend me (It didn't take much convincing lol), so I bagged another £25, then the pending £100.
I notice that A&L have reincarnated this offer, so I guess new customers can do the same. I'll keep you posted with the latest developments :-)0 -

You've done well if you've been able to get money through Quidco AND refer-a-friend. You are not supposed to be able to combine those incentives.
So I've been told, but seeing as I'm getting something for nothing, I considered it worth the risk. I won't count my chickens before they hatch though as I'm still awaiting the £100.0 -
I opened my account in September. They got the majority of my direct debits sorted in October but my slary was done too late for October so my salary went into my old account and I had to do a transfer to cover the debits that were going to come out.
They failed to start a new debit for my mortgage despite canceling the one with my old bank. And failed entirely to swap over my energy bill.
I did get my £100 this week. And the overdraft costs will be lower than my previous account.0 -
Hi,
I'm thinking of going ahead with this offer - just trying to setup a really old Lloyds account I have to meet the requirements.
Does anyone know for sure that a basic paypal DD would work? (registered but not actually taking any payments, as I understand it).
Would it be owrth me switching one of my real DDs to be safe - ie my internet bill, or does anyone know a way around this...? New offer looks like SOs won't be enough
Cheers0 -
Hi,
update on my and for the info of the above poster:
Last month they said they would pay it after I asked them how 1 standing order and 1 direct debit were on my account if as they claimed I hadn't transferred anything (had done the £500/mnth etc as well)
So messaged them back this month and now they are saying I am not getting it because nothing had gone out on the direct debit (its my vodafone bill which I pay on the c card each month for cashback)
So now my strategy is going to be to actually pay vodafone by that direct debit in February and then message them back refuting the argument that it isn't active...
Looks like they are dragging their heels to try avoid paying where possible - but I will be persistent0
