I know I can't get the 12 months free offer over the phone, but can I get the free steup/connection charge (£30) over the phone?
I'm going to try and do it today...eek!
Thanks!
Just signed up over the phone through Simplify Digital. No mention of an additional £30 set up fee. However, it is a 24 month contract! I pointed out it said on the Talk Talk website that it would be an 18 month contract. She said it used to be, but it's now 24 months - eek! If I move house can I transfer this contract over to my new address?
Now I have to work out how I'm going to manage without the internet for the 5-6 weeks it takes to set up!0 -
Just checked the Tiscali website - 18 month contract... not 12.
Update the "Home Phones" page, if no one has spotted it before?
They can also accept new people (I have an inactive line that can be activated remotely) but it's £99 for set-up.
Hmm... some number crunching required...0 -
As we know, in order to obtain ‘BT Privacy at Home’ (for BT Caller Display provision) without incurring a charge, BT requires the customer to make two chargeable calls per month (or six chargeable calls per quarter).
It is simple to fulfil this requirement by calling a speaking clock every Saturday or Sunday (or at other times when your BT calling plan provides inclusive calls). Don’t use the BT speaking clock – instead call 020 7043 1320. This is of course billed just like any other call to a London number.
[FONT="]Customers with an Orchid dialler can add rules to translate calls to TIM or 123 to 020 7043 1320. This call will always be cheaper than a call to BT’s service, and will be at zero cost (but qualifying as a ‘chargeable call’) during your inclusive call periods.

hello all
I have just bought my first flat and trying to sort out all the boring stuff! i have rung BT who have said the phone number I was given was not BT and I get the impression that there hasn't been a landline for some time (it was tenanted previously).
Is my only option to pay the £125 to BT for connection?
I don't appear to have to pay this if I go with a phone and broadband package but that works out pretty expensive for any reasonable package.0 -
If you're likely to be there for 18 months or more and are willing to agree to an 18 month contract and to making 10 or more chargeable or inclusive calls per month via BT, then use BT's free installation offer.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Sign up to o2's standard broadband via this special Broadband Choices* link before the 4 Jan '10 and get four months free broadband. Over the twelve month contract it works out as £4.89/month for unlimited 8MPbs broadband (£8.15/month for non-mobile customers).
Been with them for 12 months and got an email saying if I renew (agree for another 12 months) I get 3 months free. So looks like in addition to the 4 months free in first year you continue to get discounts in subsequent years.0 -

Thank you very much for this it sounds perfect. I rang up, ended up with the sales team and asked for this. They told me I have to get it online which is absolutely fine but I can't work out how!
Any ideas?
Thank you!0 -
This link

should take you to the start of the ordering process.
I hope this will get things going. If not, please say so.

Ring again. Eventually you'll get someone who will treat you properly.
BTW, you do NOT need to take any other items (broadband etc.) and can just ask for the lowest calls plan - the Unlimited Weekend Plan.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market.
