    No, you're not missing anything.

Except .............. if you make calls to mobiles or divert your calls to a mobile, the Penny Mobile 2 add-on to Primus Saver Option 2 (which gives calls to any UK mobiles for a flat rate of 20p for up to 20 minutes) is a real money-saver.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

I have a talktalk broadband and phone package, but I have to pay £10 for the broadband because of our local exchange. Talktalk have today sent a letter with a 30% increase in the broadband charge to £12.99 per month.

I phone and asked for the Mac code so I could switch and they have offered to leave the price at £10 per month for the next 6 months and then asked me to call them again, well worth the phone call.

I followed the link from the main article to the Home Choices website however I don't see Primus Saver Option 2, I have also tried Uswitch without luck. How can I sign-up?

Currently have BT for line rental and Sky for TV, broadband and calls. Sky are saying BT are writing to customers informing them they are withdrawing the 1280 service so 1280 calls will now appear on the call providers bills not BTs. I make enough chargeable calls with BT to get the free caller id and 1571 service but obviously cannot if 1280 is withdrawn. Are BT obliged to provide the 1280 service in the same way they have to allow access to other call providers? (or could it be Sky blocking the access).
Just read another thread and it is SKY dropping the 1280 access, their letter sure makes it seem like it is BTs doing, sneaky.
  • Hi, I'm thinking of changing my line rental to Sky in order that I can pay one bill instead of two and so that I don't have to remember the code to make 2 BT calls per month so that I don't have to pay for 1571 I think? Anyway....so I'm just wondering, if I change my line rental to sky, will my override providers such as 18866 and 18185 still work? Does anybody know please?? Many thanks, Helen :) :j

Yes, BT is the only line provider which is required to allow access to all other calls providers.
