Sky line rental

Options
Hi all
My phone line went dead mid conversation. My line rental is with sky so I phoned the number they gave me, 08442410499, I was on hold for 10 mins, then the man took some details, password etc, then he said he would put me through to the relevent dept, I was on hold for another 15 mins, then he came back to see if I was still there, then put me on hold for 10 mins, then the line went dead. I had to phone from a mobile as my home line is dead and the call cost me over £8.
Does anyone know of any way to get through to Sky without it costing me a fortune, I will have to try again later to get through to them again as I have my elderly mum here and need my home phone
Thanks in advance
Elaine

  • Ive just phoned again, 40 mins and £8.49.
They say it looks like a fault on the exchange and they will send someone to have a look at it tomorrow, where ever it is.
So that is over £16.00 so far.
Does any one know a cheaper way to get assistance from Sky ?

At yet people still ignore the advice and move line rental away from BT. Was it really worth it for a 50p per month saving?
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

There are, for some, also the perceived advantages of just having one bill (I've never understood that one), of getting free calls to Sky (when your line's working) and depriving the evil BT of income.

OTOH, it'll take kathryn elaine nearly 3 years to 'recover' the cost of the calls she had to make just to make the initial fault report.

Its also worth bearing in mind that Sky do not offer a Priority Fault Repair Service, for the eldery or disabled customer where as BT do.

Yeah, that can be quite important.

My line is with Virgin Media - simply due to them offering a huge discount, but I am on a Priority Fault Repair Service with them too.

  • The line was back on this morning, had a phone call tonight from Sky saying the problem was at the exchange and they asked if everything is ok now.
  • Thanks for that info Heinz, much appreciated.
The massive cost of the calls was because I was calling on a mobile
I should not have panicked and just waited till my neighbour was in and used her land line.
