I don't like those tie-ins as it seems you have to spend a lot for minimal reward, it all seems a bit of a con to encourage you to spend more.

    + I get my locally produced organic veg at a food co-operative, by-passing supermarkets altogether : )

re pruhealth, after several sessions of counting over & over my gym attendance, they have acknowledge i have indeed been 60 times, the goal is now showing as complete in my goals but with 0 points.

Think my renewal date is monday...

the thing with them messing around with points, & not giving them when earned is that I now have zero trust in them. I'm sure if I went and spent £100 at sainburys, they would then find a reason to not give me those points as well!

Pru make a lot of mistakes and the hardest part about trying to stick with them is that there are a lot of really dippy operators on the phone. Added to that, there are staff at the gyms who do not understand the scheme and are giving out instructions that do not help the Pru member...I have been with Pru for three years now and switched from one chain of gyms to another and found the whole thing relatively painless until the Virgin staff could not get a handle on how to set me up as a member. Anyway, the whole thing and my history with Pru has led me to recommend a few things to anyone who is experiencing problems -

Firstly, if necessary email Pru..it is a slower response time but usually the responses seem to be clearer and more accurate.

If this fails or time is an issue, call up, and try to be put through to a manager.

Make a note of the call and if you find that the answer you were given suddenly changes, make a complaint. When I did this about a year ago, they offered a small refund as apology for the poor communication, so you may get something back and hopefully not lose too much faith in them!

    Thank you.

    I shall try again tomorrow!

I am with Virgin they've actually been lovely, so helpful resending my information to Pru Health etc. It is a good scheme in as much as I couldn't afford Virgin otherwise, but if Pru Health are going to set their prices according to vitality points, it should all be set out much more clearly. Not setting people 12 week tasks then denying points. Again, it is disgusting.

Thanks for all help & advice.

I think my renewal has gone thru okay on platinum - waiting on email conformation.

After a few more phone calls, they finally gave me the points I had (rightfully) earned by going to the gym everyday over winter, omg what a slog! I have no intention of doing that again next year. Goals are probably the hardest way to earn points. So now I have a year to build my points up, what are the easiest ways to make sure I don't have same sit next year?

1500 - for gym attendance (or made up with a health assessment)
    150 - non smoking declaration
30 - per month for reading health articles (which i'm happy to read) = 360 my main question is - can you get 360 for reading the health articles or are they capped at some point like they do with the gym? Bargain Rzl - did you say it stops at 20? Would that be 200 points? & is there anything else in the same category that would then be a waste of time doing as would get no points?

If so, I remember when I first joined the website there is a thing of my age that comes up, my real age 35, my health age 31 (or something), is that just for fun or do you get points for it?

    Thanks!

I meant 30, not 20, per month for reading articles, misti (sorry about that). Yes, there is a cap - at 200 per annum.

So if you max out your fitness points (1500), all you need is your non smoker declaration (150), articles (200), a meal plan each half year (50+50) and one set of stress questionnaires (10+10+10+10+10) and there you have it.

I have to say I'm not finding the fitness goal (60 sessions) too much of a challenge, as I've got a Fitbug and I do >10,000 steps most days just walking to work and back. I wouldn't have signed up for that goal if I thought I was going to have to go to the gym 60 times in 12 weeks

I don't think the age thing makes any points difference - mine is 28, real age 30 :)

Got fitbug as well, my 'day' lasts until about 1 or 2am, do you think it's OK to set it to non-UK time?

Dont you get 10% of your year 1 points back as a kick start for year to so prob 200 in this case.
Dont forget ebay sporting goods - it says £5 min but i bought some ear plugs for a quid and got 50 points so i bought them again! And again and again!! (missus looses them...)

Of course - I hadn't thought of that. So you're 200 points up, right from the start of the year.
