  • I shall not be renewing as I have lost confidence in them by contantly changing the rules to line their pockets.

Come January Pruhealth is scapping discounted gym membership based on vitality status. Instead it will be 15% discount off the top gym membership price at your gym -this is for everyone including current platinum customers who currently pay next to nothing. Also health screening will no longer be based on vitality status - everyone will now just get a discount off the full price. You will now have to get 2500 points to get to platinum and the way of getting some points ie reading articles will go.

Really - is this correct? No more gym for me? AAAArgh : (

Spinal problems, low income, the gym really helps... can't afford £££

does that mean i have 2 months left?
  • I called Nuffied where I normally have my fitness assessment. I was told this time that they were not doing FAs anymore but a health MOT which costs £40!

The Health MOT are free for PruHealth members. I took one at the end of Sept.
I'm still waiting for the points though:rolleyes:

no, this is not entirely correct. The new discounts will take effect if you chose to renew your policy from Jan 2010 onwards and it's 25% off the retail fees. This is still a better deal than all the other insurers out there.

As for your status, yes the thresholds are changing; silver status will be easier to achieve at 800 points (currently 1000), gold will be 1600 (currently 1500), and platinum will be 2400 (currently 2000). However there are also new ways of earning points, eg 100 points for dental checks, 200 points for being a non-smoker (currently 150) etc.

I guess you are a Pru Rep.

er no, STILL a CRAP deal. gym is a vital way of keeping fit and for them to go from making it completely free to charging £8 (for us inside M25 and on platimun) to now 25% off (shooting up to I guess £60 monthly at least) is appaulling. Health screens are equally vital and that is going from £25 for platinum members to at least £250 is just appauling in the current climate.:mad::mad:

I am OK with them trying to get more money by increasing gym fees a little or upping the status limits but the greedy changes each and every year is just not ON. I shall not be renewing come January 13th.

Hi, no I am not a Pru Rep. I have a Pru policy and understand how it works, I get most of my points through Fitbug (so many in fact that I've hit my annual limit for excercise, which BTW I understand is being removed next year too!). Sure screening is important but 50% off retail prices is better than you get anywhere else.

I think Pru is great, even if the gym and screening is getting more expensive, tell me another health insurer who provides the same level of cover and anywhere near the same level of discounts of gym and screening. I've been insured for years through a number of providers and yes I'm not overly happy with them changing every year but all I'm saying is this is leagues ahead of any other cover I've ever had :D

I beg to differ. I am quite sure you work for them, which is why your post has a 'we are not as bad as our competitors'/ 'well...we are still cheaper than our competitors' slant. As a customer, I am not concerned about their competitors at all!!! They just do not represent good value for money as they used to and the changes are way too steep. Rip off.

Please can you point out where I have said "we are not as bad as our competitors" ? I don't think I did, as I don't work for Pru. All I'm saying is if you want good value healthcare, they are better than the other providers. If you don't believe me then that's fine it's just my opinion. :p

I think by scrapping those deals, and 100% off premium etc, Pru wants us to claim more often, rather than using NHS:whistle:
