I think by scrapping those deals, and 100% off premium etc, Pru wants us to claim more often, rather than using NHS:whistle:

  • Please can you point out where I have said "we are not as bad as our competitors" ?

I said your post had that tone. you did not actually have to say it.

Actually, now I know I won't be renewing again come my policy anniversay in September, it has crossed my mind that now's the time to start making claims on the policy

(Not that I think anything legitimately claimable will come up between now and then, given that I'm in good health - but if it did, I'd sure as heck be on the phone to their claims department...)

I for one will be cancelling my membership at renewal time as it will no longer be a good deal for me and I'm really sad about this, especially as I'm 350 points of platinum and was only going to join the gym when I'd reached this status :(

I feel a bit conned but I suppose this could have happened at any time.

I'm wondering what will happen if a huge amount of members suddenly quit (I've got two friends who have had policies for several years and they won't continue either) Is there any possibility that Pruhealth might backtrack on this if they start losing members?
  • is it true that they are scrapping the 100% NCD?

  • I have just recieved my letter saying that i will only get a 25% discount on my gym membership when i renew in febuary. I will not be renewing in this case, but i am wondering when everybody else has the price change come in?

As far as I can tell, anyone renewing after Jan 2010 will get the new T&Cs from their renewal date so mine will be in July 2010.

Is anyone actually going to renew???

my renewal is July 10 and I have maintained platinum status, so pay minimal insurance premiums and zero gym membership, which I use 2-3 times a week.

I am really annoyed , as they have got us to do all this as an incentive and then changed it when they have us as members.

1/ What I want to know is , if I keep the gym membership at 25% off rate, does my insurance premium stay the same...ie is there a way to keep my health insurance premiums at same level.

2/ Are Pru intitled to do this? If we all put a case to the Financial Ombudsman, Pru will have to pay £300 per review - that will mess up their sneaky plan. I plan to appeal, I have kept to platinum in order to keep my premiums down and have free gym membership, thats what I signed up for, and I expect to keep it. This is unfair as it incentivized us to join and as we know, cancelling insurance is a nightmare, because joining elsewhere means many claims are pre-exisitng again, its that year or 2 year hurdle when you cannot claim that keeps you with an insurer, so I think there is a case for having this reviewed, and if all the members here that disagree with the changes do the same, well, they may back down.
  • I'm really annoyed that they are changing the terms & conditions in such a massive way - it's not going to be worthwhile renewing for me come next october. I am going to send a strongly worded letter to pru health complaining about the changes.
It seems that keeping yourself fit and healthy is being penalised and they want to claw back all the money they have 'lost' since they started thsi scheme. I hope they re-consider (but I doubt it).
  • my renewal is 16/10/10 so will have current t&c's with platinum until then.

i gather there are changes in NCD's for the health insurance component so unlikley to get 100% NCD anymore - another massive change

the only 'good thing' for me is that I have just about a year's 'notice' :(
