Pruhealth scrapping its free/discounted gym loophole in November. Discussion

yep did the fitness assessment. 300 of the 1270 points so far were that, the rest were yoga classes.
& going to the gym is the main source of points. its also why I joined, not interested in private health care, just want to be healthy!
Think pruhealths goals are stupid, i'm not going to force my body to lose weight beyond what it is doing naturally to get 50 points. Or have a flu jab when I never get flu. Its rubbish! I'd like to be able to afford the gym & tell pruhealth to stick it.0 -
as for the extra £30 a month they are taking on top of the £33+£15.
I'm hoping if i can make ends meet till my renewal date in March, it will be less & i'll have money back? See I don't know! Think changing peoples policies like that so dramatically mid year - & just b4 xmas & in a recession is simply wrong.0 -
hi all,
Can someone tell me how many points is platinum, i'm just into gold-woop woop!!But have my renewal next month and wonder if i can get a last minute points rush to get it to platinum....no where can i find how many platinum actually is?!And how long do things take to register on my account?
Also re the ladies premium going up i think its something to do with price increases..pru calculated my quote on silver state and gave me 50% off but it was off 400ish pounds when last yr my total was 200ish so basically all my 50% off did was cancel out there premiums doubling in cost!!! Doubling seems a lot, thats not inflation surely and i'm only 25 so its not like i'm suddenly high risk health cat....
I'm v happy with the scheme still and next yr i'm determined to make it from gold to plat if i cant do it in time for the renewal...but doubling and then it being cancelled out with non-claims and silver status seems odd....
Any thoughts, and how can i get gold to plat super quick?
Thanks!0 -

Hi,
I'm in the first year of my Pruhealth Canons (or whatever it's now called) membership and am at Platinum so pay £0 for the gym and just pay for the policy each month.
My renewal is in April so hopefully my policy payment will go down as i haven't claimed. Also hopefully my gym membership should stay at £0.
But what happens to my vitality status and points. Will I stay at Platinum? Do i get to carry my points forward? Do I have to keep getting points so my 3rd year will stay the same?
I can't find these answer to these questions on the useless new pruhealth website so I'm hoping someone here can help
many thanksMS Stalwart. Used site for >10 years :jMake Do, Mend and Minimise member - focussing on upcycling/repurposing and sewing0 -
You'll stay at Platinum for the whole of Year 2, so you'll continue to get all the discounts and perks that a Platinum member can get.
You'll carry over 10% of your points balance to the second year (in subsequent years it's more), and from that point you have to start working towards 2000+ points again before your second year ends, so that you'll continue to be Platinum in Year 3.
In other words, as long as you continue to accumulate points, you need never come off Platinum ever again.Operation Get in Shape

I need to vent.
I wrote previously about how hard it was to obtain the 2000 points you need to reach platinum, as some had said its easy....
update - I joined last year, have gone continually but the max u get for gym = 1500 points. Had fitness assessment 300 points, only that falls into to the same 'category' as the gym so you don't get the points.
So in order to make up the points, I undertook 2 goals, set by the pru health website. 1 to attend 60x in 12 weeks (thats almost everyday, even tho the fitness instructors there say you should rest for a day inbetween workouts!), the other to lose 10% of my bmi (about 2 stone in 12 weeks!). For this inordinate amount of work you get 50 points each.
As i'm on a low (artists) income, I can't afford the gym, so took these challenges, lost weight probably faster than was healthy. Now at the end of these tasks pru health have said to me - I don't get the points as I had a fitness assessment in november, & you are only allowed a fitness assessment once every 6 months. So tho I had a fitness assessment done last week so they could see the results they will not accept these results because it is within 6 months.
So currently, as my bmi has improved, I've been told I don't get the points for that either because its not been 6 months since the date of my last assessment - my annual renewal is at the end of the month.
Pru health are acting like street tricksters, now where are your points, are they here? no. here? no, what about here?
I have done more than enough to get platinum status, yet due to their trickery (!!!!ing over their customers basically - apologies if you don't like the f word but its the right one used correctly) I am being denied points I have rightfully earned.

How many points have you got at the moment?
Even with you not having realised you could only do one fitness assessment per half year:
Have you made the non smoking declaration (150 points)?
Or do meal plans (50) and stress assessments (10 x 5), twice a year each?
Or been reading articles online (3 a month up to a max of 20, 10 points each)?
Or done your Vitality Assessment (100 points)?
If you'd been doing these over the course of the year, you'd have got 650 points to add on to your 1,500 fitness points and take you over 2,000.
If you haven't been doing them, then you can still get up to or close to 2,000 without further expense: as I understand it, you're currently on something like 1,600 (full quota of fitness points + 50 for registering your membership online + 50 for achieving your goal of 60 x exercise sessions).
So: do your Vitality Assessment (100 points)
Read 3 online articles (30 points)
Do your meal plan (50 points)
Do your 5 mini stress questionnaires (50 points)
Make your non smoking declaration (150 points)
That would take you up to 1,980. Have I missed something you have already done, which means your existing points balance is higher?Operation Get in Shape

Thanks.
I'm currently on hold. I have 1990 points.
Have done the non-smoking declaration, read articles, stress questionaire, on-line assessment.
The things which are annoying me the most, is that I went to the gym 60 - 60!!! times in 12 weeks. now they are not giving me the 50 points. They are saying its because I have the 1500 for gym - but its not gym it was a personal goal set by them! If they weren't going to give me the points why set it.
The other is that they say you should get 100 points for changing your bmi - only as I said I've lost 2 stone, changed by bmi, yet they won't give me the points as they say i've already had a fitness assessment within 6 months.
I should be entitled to these points shouldn't I?
btw I'm still on hold. coming up 20 minutes...0
