    Hi nej,

Maybe you could look it up later? If Pruhealth has made a mistake with the calculation, it would be a shame if you chose to ditch them without looking into it and getting it corrected.

Meh... not that bothered to be honest! She's got a good enough deal with the gym direct, and we were a bit annoyed about them not counting one of her visits last time, plus there's nothing to stop them changing the terms again next year.

She found it hard to find the time to go as often as she wanted (kids/work etc), so would probably struggle to get up the levels.

Im really finding it hard to comprhend the amount of people that are sayings its too hard to get to Plat!

Items i would say take no time and no effort yet reap massive rewards!
Please note i have included the year allowance and some have to be done twice a year to achieve max points.

Two fitness assements, that take maybe 10 mins each for a total of 600 points.
Read online articles over the year - 200 points
Vitality online review - 100 points
Online stress tests - 100 points
    Creating 2 meal plans - 100 points
(personally im counting online registration for 50 points and 150 points for a non smoking decleration) whilst i realise these are a one off 200 points, when i reach Plat status and i will, i will get these 200 points back in renewal (10% carry over)

So with doing next to nothing and not even breaking a sweat or using any time my year consists of 1300 points!!!
Lets say i was lazy and didnt goto the gym and it was coming up to the end of year, for £25 i can purchase a basic heath screen which also gives me 200 points.
Many other items get points, ie buying heathy food, buy ebay goods.
Achieving goals, its entirly possible to achieve plat status with never going to the gym.
I can understand this change for new people will look a little worse than the old offer, but the true money saver will have plat status after month 6/7 and enjoy 100% off next years premium, and 100% off the gym membership. (sorry, personally i get 100% i know it varies from gym to gym and location and type of package) Which in my eyes is MUCH better than old plan, as i find it hard to commit to going 24 times a quarter

You're right in that the online registration one is a one-off, but the non smoker declaration is an annual activity and can be done every year for 150pts...

Well thats me told, that makes second years premium a doddle to get!
If i wanted to be extra cheeky i could with been platinum, get booked in with Nuffiled and do a FULL health screen which will take maybe 2 hours of my year up for 400 points, because the following year im plat, i get it for £25 as aposed to the retail £415!!

    Making year 2 something around

200 renewal minimum carry over (0 mins)
600 fitness assesments (20 mins, possibily 40 if you include travel)
200 reading online articles (2 mins per article, 40 mins)
    100 online review (5 mins)
    100 stress tests (5 mins)
    100 creating 2 meal plans (2 mins)
    150 non smoker (1 min)
120 ebay (purchase 3 sports items that will help keep fit/impove health) £15ish (15 mins???!)
400 full health screen (for £25 it pretty much guarantees me plat status next year with VERY little effort) (possibly 180 mins)
    Total 1970

Yes i have spend around £40 but over the year this = around £3.33 per month.

The above idea just shows how knowing the system and spending a little money can guarantee dirt cheap premiums and gym membership, it also doesnt count the bonus points you get for maintaining or improving your health levels.
Doing some rough calculations, the time over the year will be no more than 7.5 hours, or shall we say a days work?? (my example is about 5 hours)

The non-smoker declaration is quite deeply buried in the new website design - you have to go to the Vitality zone, then to My Health and Goals (dropdown menu) from which you pick "Know how healthy you are" then you click on Online Assessments and then Non-Smoker Declaration which brings up the pop-up window for you to fill in.

I'm about 2 weeks into Year 2 and I think I worked out that to maintain Platinum with no financial outlay whatsoever I only need to clock up something like 50 gym visits/Fitbug 10-pointers. And that's if I don't make any BMI/fitness improvements and so on, or achieve any personal goals. As it happens I'm planning on going to the gym rather more than that anyway (because I need to reduce my BMI) but the new system definitely works better for me. It means that I'll be able to make a lot of gym visits at times which are convenient to me, and keep/get fit in other ways - rather than having to stick to a rigid number every single quarter.

  • I have read through this thread and am convinced that many of the subscribers actually work for the Prudential. The new deal is very poor and the Prudential have acted most unreasonably by introducing 'the best thing sliced bread,' then withdrawing their terms after they have got loads of people into paying for life assurance. I am going to complain to the Financial Ombudsmans service

Many? Who? Only one I know is PMI specialist who never hid the fact:confused:
  • I'm just a customer. I'm surprised that you read through the whole thread and still think getting Platinum is hard.

For the record, I'd like to assure people that I have no connection with Prudential whatsoever, other than having been a PruHealth customer since September 2007.
