Pruhealth scrapping its free/discounted gym loophole in November. Discussion

I just found out that they dropped 1 points for last week's fruit shopping. Pretty annoying, I am working on a very tight margin of error, and now I only have 9 'spares' for the next 4 months.
Is anyone else getting a null pointer error when trying to register their Ebay ID?
I've been reluctant to take their stress test because this whole thing with Pru-health is probably adding 3 points to my stress level (which is already high due to a lot going on lately)!0 -
Really disappointed that this scheme is being changed...
I'm looking to sign up to Virgin in Sheffield, I beleive membership alone would be around £50/month mark.
From November would it be worth me signing up to Pru, and trying to drive my premiums down. There's so much conflicting information on this thread it is very difficult to see whether I'd be better off just paying the monthly fee or joining Pru and looking to get a discount.
I'd expect to visit the gym 12 times/month. I'm 21, so the Pru Health cost is around £21.Stuff Happens As Wave of Ambiguity Spreads:cool:0 -

It's Tier 1, so it'll cost £22/month if Gold member, £8/month if Platinum.

You'll need 1500 points to be Gold.0 -
QQ...but do my accumulated points then get wiped off in November. And so I would have to start again?

Yes, I phoned up yesterday to report it and suggest you do the same...the more people who complain about it the more likely they are to sort it out sooner!
I noticed that there point query form started working long enough to lodge a query and stopped again...hmph!
It's so annoying as I really need/want to have an eBay spend for September as I am relying on the points so I can join the gym one I hit gold (I only joined in September)
Went to have my free fitness assessment and after putting the blood pressure gauge on upside down was told I had high blood pressure and couldn't continue, thought I'd phone the doc to check but my mobile had died, got in the car and it wouldn't start!!! Not a good day!:rotfl:0 -

It was Virgin Active. They only had one blood pressure machine, and I remember in the past that my doc said they aren't always very effective. Turns out the batteries were low, so she went and found some new ones, but it still gave the same reading (a couple of times she'd put it on upside down which obviously isn't a good sign!)
Doc said it was slightly raised, as I'm a bit overweight, but like I said to him..I want to join the gym to lose weight and get fit....so lower my bp! So i've written down his reading (done the old fashioned and most accurate way with a stethoscope!) and I'm going back on friday with his blessing!
I did go to my work gym a while back as they had a 6 week free taster. The music was thumping very LOUDLY and the guy made me sit awkwardly on a desk in front of everyone, and I was getting so peed off by the whole place! He said BP was high off the scale highest he's ever seen...but my nurse friend said that it would have picked up the beat of the music! So if you ever have it done make sure they take you somewhere quiet and also have you sitting down comfortably
Hence to say I hated the noise in the work gym so much I never went back. It was so loud that I would hear it over my mp3 player on the loudest setting!:mad:0 -
I think my step test gave misleading readings to be honest. It gave a reading of over 100 at the end of the test, but I *started off* at higher than that since I had to rush there (ran there). Not too bothered though, I guess it means that I can only improve.
But it's been a week now and they've still not given me the points. If any of you do the Road2Health screen, please let me know how it is. I am tempted to pay an added fiver for the Diagnostic Clinic's basic screen.
I am also a September member, and really need to 'power level' if I want the chance to hit Gold by November. Seriously, this whole thing is giving me so much stress lol.0 -
Did they give you a copy of your fitness assessment? If not ask for one and fax/post it to Pruhealth yourself as I read somewhere that it was easier than waiting around not knowing whether the gym had done it or not..
I'm waiting for my sainsburys points to show up...the first lot were really quick to show up, I've kept my receipt though in case there is a problem...it's sad that the site doesn't live up to expectations, if I was Pruhealth and that's what the web design team delivered, I would ask for my money back! So many links don't work...the same can be said of the FItbug site...it says it can't give me a target until I input what I eat...I go to do that and the site is so full of errors I give up!grrrrr0
