Why is there such animosity between certain boards on here?

There is no set pattern for debt and, as the cross section of society that posts on this board can testify, debt can happen to virtually anyone.

There is also the issue that debt doesn't just "happen" to people. People accrue debt through misfortune, but also through laziness, a failure to budget, a failure to plan, a failure to insure themselves, a failure to better themselves, or just believing that they deserve certain things, when maybe they can't afford them.

If you post on many forums you will find that common courtesy is a rare feature. When people post electronically they will write stuff that they would never say face to face and somehow the anonimity gives people permission to be curt, to put it politely. If you want to see the raging bulls, have a look at George Monbiot's web-site.

This is one reason that people who visit this forum from elsewhere on MSe are somethings a bit surprised at the reaction they get here. They simply are not used to an on-line environment that actually does as Martin asks in his introductory post.

It is also why some folk are so nervous about their first post, as they expect a slagging off.

Well, i have just ventured over to have a read of said thread, The replies in the main were very helpful and honest, BUT, and i have to say some of the other posts are down right awful and aggressive in manner. And no we are not a bunch of waste of timers. And when its said that dummies are thrown out and threads closed then so bloody well be it. And if i am a hugger then bloody fantastic. If i have helped in anyway to stop someone topping themselves as i have been helped then i am foooookin proud of the fact. I am so incensed its untrue. And most of the time its not because other dont tell us what we want hear that we get upset, its sometimes because we dont always understand the advice given. As good as some of the posts were i was lost when posters started talking in jargon they could only possibly understand. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

All of these things may be true .....but does that mean we can't offer people support, advice or hugs when appropriate?

No it does not..I have found everyone on here to be friendly and helpful and long may it stay that way:T :T :T :T

I would love to keep up, I just wonder if one day anyone from over there will come over here. Do you know recently i have tried to help a poster who i know is genuine and has been lovely and honest. But they have posted on here with another user name as he/she feels ashamed about their situation and is worried about what people may think of them from another board. Is that what it has come to. Maybe some of the posters from other boards are actually here. Under another name. Do we turn them away. Nope. xxxxxxxxxxx

Like when the DCA hasn't got a CCA and the SOA isn't in MSE format so we don't know if they need to do a DMP or SBT after you get your details from the CRA type thing? Almost brings new meaning to !!!!!!.

Also is "xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" more provocative than a dodgy hug?
