Morning!
Not working until 12 today :j. I am being put on the bays (loading the lorries) tonight, which I am really nervous of because the woman is charge shouts if you get it wrong. Like *really* shouts.
Anyway, I was going to make apple flapjacks and weetabix brownies this morning, but then found out I do not have any butter so that has had to wait. Have been clearing out some bits and bobs (Ifreecycle), and doing general tidying.
Got to post a couple of Ebay parcels this morning, so need to leave at 11.15.
I did not get that cabinet i wanted for my kitchen on Ebay it went for £100 - if I lived nearer I would have bought it, but with the £100 courier charge as well, I just couldn't justify that kind of money atm. Never mind, it was not meant to be
Benthos Boy - So good to see you back, and that things are going better for you. Please post a picture of your trailers piggy backed on top of each other - I bet they will be a sight going up the road!
 I don't want to go to work, I am in the mood for staying home and getting things done today.
Have a good one :beer:We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -
Regarding the stickybuds thing.I am no gardener but when we were kids we used to stick sticky buds on each other and shout"sticky buds" and run off screaming[STRIKE]simple pleasures I know[/STRIKE] They weren't prickly though, just kind of a long green stem with a little sticky bud on the end"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Hi everyone
not had time to read the thread as i am at work , but will catch up later- promise!

really busy at work and really hot this sort of close weather makes people
grumpy and I've had several people grumbling already.
got to take DD2 to a bowling party later so I will hit meadowhall whilst I am waiting for her ( i will try not to spend tooooo much:rotfl: )

Good morning! Dry but lack of sun here, to hang out the washing or not to hang is the question lol!
Need to have a quick hoover around, dw, wm on, bm needs to go on in a bit, doing granary loaf today so hope it all comes out okay, fingers crossed!
Dinner tonight for the kids will be duck with pancakes and bbq ribs - produce of the reduced cabinet in Mr T's!
Got to pick up dd3 and assorted neighbours children from school, throw tea on then go and get dd2 and her friend from dance, then got to whizz to a meet the teacher evening with dd1's new teacher at her new school, well new for September. Will then be heading for a night at w**k, sigh! Eek, sounds like a lot of children to remember tonight, will be glad to go to w**k for a rest, well, maybe!
Was meant to be having my window replace today by my mate, but think he's got caught up doing a stone wall, apparently he needs to do that in the dry but can do my window in any weather, hmmm! So looks like that may not be happening, oh well it gives me time to find some more bits for my friends birthday, we are doing her a funny overnight bag, cos she goes away a lot, so have a selection of silly things, not sure quite how its from several of us yet I'm the one putting it together.
Not a lot else to report, other than I saw Mamma Mia at the cinema on Sat, it was fab, a real feel good film and I thoroughly recommend it!

Hello everyone, I'm back!:j :hello:
This is only the second time I've managed to post since coming back from holiday on 16th June- I had food poisoning (not from my cooking, let me hasten to add:rolleyes:
)which left me feeling absolutely "wiped out" with an M.E. relapse, and then my DH got diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes into the bargain so we've been trying to get our heads round that! He's finding it difficult as he's always loved boiled sweets, and I'm constantly thinking in the back of my mind "Oh help, what on earth can I make for dinner tonight? Panic panic!" I'm particularly concerned because when I'm having a bad day, of which there are sometimes several in a row, I can't cook a meal - and DH actually gets DLA because he can't either   We saw the Diabetes nurse last week for the first time and she said "Buy a cooked chicken and have some of that with lots of salad, and put the rest of the chcken in the freezer for another time" but we won't want chicken and salad several days in a row
We used to have a pie once a week or so, but he can't have pie now because of the fat in the pastry. I'm still doing the "cook double and freeze half" thing when making curry or bolognese, but apart from that I don't know what to do and feel like I'm running round like a chicken with its head cut off (do they really do that?:D ) We have actually bought some diabetes recipe books, so will have to get stuck into those now I'm starting to feel better.
Anyway, enough of my moans, I know there are people on here atm going through a very difficult time. Special ((((((hugs)))))) to Chrisca and Anniestar, as well as Smokybabe of course.
Penny_Pincher! I hope your DH is starting to feel better and that you will enjoy your holiday, and have that talk with your Mum ((((((HUGS))))))
Welcome to all the new people who've joined the Daily while i've been MIA!
Hardup Hester - sorry you are having such a bad time atm, thinking of you.
Stefejb - hope you managed to get rid of exOh - perhaps throw the BlackBerry a bit harder next time?
Catowen - thanks for wondering where I was! :kisses3: I've pm'd you. Glad your DD had a good trip!
Churchmouse, VickyA, Shez, Bargain Rzl
Gentle ((((HUGS)))) to anyone in need of one today.
What a nice surprise - there was a parcel from Amazon for DH this morning and he's just presented me with the contents - "Chinese Food made Easy" ! :T :T :T We've been watching the TV series and her food always seems to be delicious, so will give it a go! We've got to go out today to hunt out some sherry vinegar (the diabetes nurse suggested mixing white wine vinegar, which I've already got, and sherry vinegar, which I haven't, to make a fat-free salad dressing.) so we might as well get some rice vinegar at the same timeand see if we can find any reduced-salt Soy Sauce - I presume it must exist as it's mentioned in one of the diabetic recipe books!
Right, I'm going to go now and read the rest of today's thread, might be able to pop back later. Hope everyone has as good a day as possible.
best wishes

Celyn, well done - and that's a good idea, writing it all down. I always thought/knew psychiatrists were worse than the patients... people like that will eventually come unstuck though. And well done on being so strong in dealing with Mr Jekyll too, sounds like you are determined to get them all sorted out!
Candygirl, enjoy the night out, sounds like just what you need.
PippaS, mmm, egg & bacon, now that has suddenly woken my tastebuds up
Blairweech, are you able to have a quick word with the woman in charge before you get started tonight & explain that you're a bit nervous about making mistakes & can she offer any advice... She might feel a bit less able to shout if you're following said advice. Failing that, if its really bad is there anyone you can tell?? Also people don't perform as well when they're nervous.
Ivyleaf, welcome back, sorry to hear you & DH have both not been well.Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)0 -
Hello everyone!
I Don't normally post on the daily thread but I need your sympathy.....my electric mixer has just diedIt started making an awful noise and then stopped. Now I'll have to use my arms:rolleyes:

Morning everyone!
got the decorator here fixing the en-suite, he's doing a great job. I'm keeping out of the way though.
Off to the supermarket when he goes.
Redruby - thanks for the recipe
but I don't have american measuing cups - can anyone help with a conversion amount??? thanks.
right - off to peruse the rest of the boards now.
http://www.deliaonline.com/cookery-school/conversions/ The cup conversions are at the bottom of the page. I did have a set of plastic ones somewhere until OH decided to put one in the ovenApparently he was trying to melt 1/2 cup of butter
I've just ripped a massive hole in the back of my trousers on a waste bin in the lab :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Glad I had a sewing kit in my bag - but I had to nip out and buy a new pair of jeans because the hole was so large in the end - can't walk round the whole day with my jacket tied round my waist. :rotfl:
Still, I did find a lovely little black dress in the Next clearence store for £6. I don't often treat myself, but today I did:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0
