Okay - i've just taken out mortgage with Nationwide who only searched Experian. My experian and equifax reports are total contrast.

Bank of america search callcredit. Just got a refusal.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks for the info ;)

Have added Nationwide to the mortgage section.

As has already been queried, can you please clarify when you say Bank of America do you mean MBNA (subsidiary of Bank of America)? I've never had MBNA search Callcredit with any of my applications so would be interested to know if they have started to. Also please clarify if they have made a full credit search or an enquiry.

    Thanks again for the info.

  • Sorry - I have actually forgotton what i applied for but refusal came on Bank of america's letter head and didnt mention the trading entity. It was the only credit card i applied for in ages and got refused !!
It mentions only callcredit as CRA on the letter.
    Thanks for the info ;)

It seems more and more companies are using them. NID, I think they advertised when they were set up by the Skipton Building Society that they had loaded millions of historical records, so they might not be that behind with information. Also Barclaycard are now using Experian as they have checked my file, have not seen the other files so I dont know but assume they checked Equifax as well.

    Hiya

Yea I know that a lot more companies are starting to use them but not as their primary search, i.e. exclusively. So that said, Barclaycard still use Equifax (they have an agreement) and may just use Experian or CC as they see fit.

The historical data is not there yet, my older accounts show the start date, true, but not the balances etc for historical months it shows unclassified status for those periods (on call credit).... They are still a joke - we done just dandy with the main 2 - 3 is a waste of space.

  • Morning,
I have two accounts with Shop Direct (Littlewoods and Very), an O2 Contract and a Capital One Credit card. None of these are showing up or have ever shown up on my Experian Report but they are all showing up on my Equifax report. Does that mean the information on the front page of this thread is wrong?
It's either that Shop Direct, O2 and Capital One do not report to Experian or something is wrong with Experian report.
    Please confirm and correct accordingly.

    Hi little-missy, welcome to MSE.

I would suggest that there may be something wrong with your Experian report. I have had or currently have all of the accounts you have stated and they all appear on my Experian report.

Check your report and credit accounts for address discrepancies, this can be a reason that accounts fail to appear on your report.

If there's no obvious errors it could be worth contacting Experian or the companies concerned.

    Regards

  • Wow Underground, you are simply "Magic". When you mentioned address discrepancies, something just clicked. I just went back to my Experian, added "Apartment" and then "Flat" to my house number and out came all the accounts I didn't see all these months! Amazing how such a little difference can mean a lot. I'm so glad I posted on this website...thanks a lot!

Halifax Aqua searched my CallCredit file when I applied for a credit limit increase in June. It was a soft search and they didn't warn me it would be carried out. I memory serves the same happened back along when I had a Halifax ONE card a few years ago, although I can't be sure as the search will have dropped off long long ago.

When I asked for a further increase in September and they said I needed to wait, no soft search was performed on Call Credit, so it seems that Halifax Aqua have a two stage system - yes / no based on internal scoring, and then if yes, a further yes / no based on external scoring.
