    Hi Underground

Excellent thread! I wish I'd seen it ages ago.

Do GM Card (issued by HFC) also search Experian and CallCredit, and not Equifax, just like HSBC?

    Thanks a lot.

    Hi

HFC will almost certainly use HSBC's credit scoring systems.

Can I ask, are you buying a new Vauxhall soon? This card can only be applied for at a Vauxhall retailer.

    Regards

No, I don't intend to buy a Vauxhall. I read on their website. You get points for purchases, but I want to get it just for the balance transfer. I assume their criteria is lax because their minimum income is 5.5k.

They say you have to at least meet the following criteria:

    1. Will your GM Card be for personal use?
    2. Do you live in the UK or the Channel Islands?
    3. Are you 18 years or older? (21 if you're in the Channel Islands)
    4. Do you have a household income of more than £5,500 (gross)?
    5. Do you have a good credit history?
You can apply online - it doesn't have to be through a car retailer or anything. It sounds like this is something new.

The balance transfer period is only five months, there are far more competetive cards out there.

Plus you'll have to drag yourself down to a Vauxhall dealer to be able to apply!

    ......not according to their website:

To apply, please visit your local Retailer. Find your nearest Retailer here. You can also apply over the phone by contacting us on 0845 746 2777.

So there is actually the option of applying by phone, not just a dealer.

I'm having difficulty getting a card at the moment, so I'm going for the easier ones, even though they are shorter balance transfer periods. I was recently declined an MBNA card, if you check my thread you'll see.

Can't I apply online for the GM card? That's what it says on their website?

Perhaps try for a card from Sygma Bank (see page 1 for links).

Several people over on the Sub-prime Credit Card thread have had success with them (not that I'm implying you're 'sub-prime'!)

    Sygma only search Equifax.

Is there really only Tesco and Zopa who search Equifax for Loan applications.

Seems very strange don't you think.

Very true. The Flybe card is a good card to go for. I now have 2 cards from the Sygma stable and can't say I've had any issues.
