Credit Reference Agencies - Who Really Uses Who?! UPDATE

            Hi there
Just to add some info, I have a defaulted current account with alliance and leicester, the default date being Feb 09 and the balance is £500.
It has only been reported to Equifax and Call Credit, there is nothing on Experian.
Also, it is listed as a definite default on Call Credit but on Equifax it is listed as settled, the payments history shows a 3 and then the account was closed; however it does show the delinquent balance of £500. Whilst it isn't reported as a default, and when I bought my credit score from them it said I had no defaults, does the fact I have a delinquent balance basically mean anyone searching my credit file will see it as a default?
(The account was closed by the bank and the amount sent to a collection agency)
 cheers0

Whoever searches you will know you have a default (or at least a pending default) - the settled account status you see basically means that the original creditor have settled the account, usually when it has been sold to a DCA - therefore in your case, your credit file clearly shows that A&L have closed or sold the debt. This would prompt a lender to conduct an additional search so if they checked Experian and seen the above; they would automatcially check Equifax as well, and vice versa.
This isn't really the relevant thread for this post, but hopefully that has answered your query anyway, 2010 - year of the troll 2010 - year of the troll

 Hi Layla_CK
Thanks for the info, have added British Gas as a 'reporter'.
Anyone else aware of their utilities supplier credit searching for new accounts or reporting account conduct?
 Please let me know.

Because a gas account is not a credit account nor is it a regulated product. Technically speaking, if you wanted to set precedent you could take them to court and have a judge decide if they are actually allowed to report to the CRA's - personally, the simple option is to ditch them and go to a cheaper one - I use E-on which is over £300 per year cheaper for us (my monthly bill is £250 so we are high users).... 2010 - year of the troll 2010 - year of the troll

I was quite shocked British Gas are now doing this - always pay my bill so thats not why I had queried them reporting on my account. But, I had to raise a query with Experian as BG had me registered at an address I had not lived at for five years. It's been removed now.
 Do any other companies report?0
