It is called a czech cooker

I heard that lakeland bought the remoska factory but imo it is such an old design that surely any decent manufacturer could make similar but with a different name
And a better build at a far more realistic price.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
ariba what was the price please0

Perhaps someone from Lakeland reads this thread ? (Own up NOW if you do ????) but one of the Remoska's (few) weak points is the fragility of the non-stick coating - if even they have to suggest you use a magic mat in it is suggests a serious lack of robustness, so I'd definitely suggest they look at using a better grade Teflon coating (after all there are Teflon saucepans you can use metal utensils in with no ill effects)
It's very difficult choosing between high price+Lakeland service and lower price + possibly worse service. Glad mine's still going strong (for now !)
Good luck Kittie - let us know what you do ?0 -
Thanks for the Link Kittie, interesting to read that the QVC one has a variable temperature control on the lid, wonder what size the pan is?
Morganlefay,i totaly agree about choosing between customer service and lower prices....Tho i still kinda wish id tried the Ideal world £39.99 one(its a 4L pan, same as my grand).....if the qvc one is priced as low then it may be worth considering as ive read that QVC have good cunstomer service too.Slimming World..Wk1,..STS,..Wk2,..-2LB,..Wk3,..-3.5lb,..Wk4,..-2.5,..Wk5,..-1/2lb,Wk6,..STS,..Wk7,..-1lb.
Week 10,total weightloss is now 13.5lbs Week 11 STSweek 14(I think)..-2, total loss now 1 stone exactly
GOT TO TARGET..1/2lb under now weigh 10st 6.5(lost 1st 3.5lbs)0 -
What is best way of cooking boiled rice in the Remoska, please?0

I make rice at least twice a week in my Remoska. I put 1 cup of rice plus 2 cups of water (boil it in the kettle first if you want it quicker). Put a timer on for 30 minutes (less time if you are cooking smaller amount - you will soon learn how much time you need for your amounts. Voila - perfectly cooked rice!
If you are not sure if it is done just have a peak and see if there is any water left hiding under the rice. Once the water is all gone the rice is cooked perfectly! When life hands you lemons, ask for tequilla and salt and give me a call!!!0 -
I am wondering if the remoska needs a whole new design. In the old days it (the czech cooker) would have been made of cast iron. Surely today it would not be impossible to design a lid that is made from two parts ie the part you can`t wash and the part you can. Plus I HATE the idea of ingesting even the tiniest amount of teflon (remember asbestos). You don`t need a non stick coating with seasoned cast iron
I think that remoska was a good money earning enterprise, helped by the likes of us on this site but we have woken up and smelt the coffee. In reality the remoska is not worth more than the £39 asked by IW
and I feel a bit `ripped off`

I started off full of enthusiasm for my Remoska but it now spends it's life in the cupboard.
I never use it anymore after trying it out (and I did try) it just did'nt deliver.
I just don't like the results for a lot of stuff and to be honest I don't think it was worth the £100 I paid for it.
As for it tripping electrics, that's just not on.
Lakeland can't just say do this or the other. There's obviously something wrong with the design of the unit for this to keep happening to so many people and Lakeland should do something about it.0 -
It does a really great Roast Chicken but not a lot beyond that.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0

Ah I have to disagree re the cooking aspect. I still think it is a fab, fab, economical cooker. I make lots and lots from bread to baked apples to casserole, depending on my mood. However I have recently bought a dutch oven in cast iron for £50 and that would be my one and only buy if I were starting again and could only buy one item
I have lovely pans these days all stainless steel apart from the dutch oven and the remoska. I own 2 kuhn rikon pressure cookers and 2 remoskas. I use all of them and they all cook beautifully. I do get very concerned now about teflon after having done a google and remoska are my only teflon items
yes I know, I am spoilt re pans but I am ski-ing and would rather good pans than a cruise0
