My kitchen electrics were all renewed when the kitchen was revamped four year's ago, and yes the new systems are super sensitive. Still don't know whether it's worth putting up with the inconvenience for the sake of my lovely Remoska, as I've been thinking about some of it's successes this evening and oh, that sponge flan case just cannot be replicated in the oven.

Can I use the Remoska to cook a small joint of beef? It's silverside and weighs almost 600g .
How would I know how long to cook it for and what about basting it?
Thank you.0 -

I did a search on this thread but couldnt find anything.
Never mind, I'll have to put it in the oven instead of trying it in the Remoska, it was quite pricey and I daren't risk ruining it. I use my remoska for all sorts of things but never done a joint in it before.0 -
I've only tried cooking a joint of beef once and it was very tough. May have just been the joint though.
Did a joint of pork once and that was ok. Chicken is brilliant of course. I shall be using it to cook my turkey crown again this year. Last year I managed to squeeze in a big crown and the lid wouldn't close completely but it still cooked in my grande and was really lovely and moist. It took less time then in my usual oven and freed up a lot of space for veg etc.0 -

Thanks for that, but I have bitten the bullet today and DH has fetched me a new Remoska. It felt like coming home. It's about six weeks that I have not had one to use and I don't think I would have lasted this long if I had not had a visitor here during that time and nothing was 'normal' anyway.
It was bliss to produce beautifully moist, yummy bread rolls again and no 'trips' so far.

Hi, I don't know if 'true blue' remoska users will consider me a poor relative but I bought the 'Czech Cooker' from QVC when it was the TSV. It is a 3 litre version which sits between the standard and Grand Remoskas which Lakeland sell. It certainly seems to be very similar and including postage costs about £70. The Non stick pot is 23cms diameter. It has a variable temperature range from 90 to 180 degrees. I have had it for about 3 weeks so far and have used itquite a few times already. I got it because I live alone and find heating the oven for small amounts a waste of money. I am very pleased with it and today I invested in the remoska rack and pan separator for the standard remoska from Lakeland and was over the moon that they fit exactly. If anyone else is considering getting a Remoska it might be worth them looking at the QVC version if they think the standard one might be too small and the Grand one too big.0

Thanks for that. Certainly not a poor relative at all, I considered getting it myself but wasn't sure if rack & separator would fit, or what QVC's customer service would be like compared to Lakeland's. I'm pleased it works well for youOfficial DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0
