  • I have this problem too - I always switch it off before lifting the lid seems to stop it.
Kondo'ed 76 items from wardrobe, 4 carrier bags of books
  • Would appreciate ideas on boiling green veg (and non green) at same time as roasting chicken or beef

I sometimes make little foil packets of veg and 'steam' along side my roast chicken, you could just add a knob of butter to the package but I've cooked them without anything else but seasoning.
  • I must have had mine for over a year now, and I use it a lot. It looks very tatty now (top is stained and non-stick inside of top has gone a funny colour) but it still works fine and I still love it because not only do I not have to put my big oven on but the food cooked in it is so good. BUT how long would we expect it to go on working ? When I got it I thought it looked a bit flimsy and not very robust, and then I read peoples' experiences on here and have been waiting to have troubles but I haven't had any problems (that's tempting fate). So how long would people expect a Remoska to last before needing to be replaced (I know that depends on how often its used etc etc) - but roughly ?

I've had mine about 18 months now and luckily have never had problems with the electrics.

One thing I do find handy for cleaning the top is 'Bar Keepers Friend' Lakeland sell it but I think you can buy the powder from hardware shops. I only use a little bit of powder mixed to a paste then go over it it lightly with a stainless steel scourer. It does scratch the top a bit but still looks clean and shiny rather than stained. I'm hoping my Remoska will keep going for a good few years yet.

    Thank you.Will try your advice.

 My remoska grand blew my electrics again, so, reluctantly I returned it and accepted the offer of a refund.

I then missed it badly and so within days ordered the QVC czech cooker, since the 3l size and thermostat seemed appealing and I wondered if a differently manufactured cooker might not blow my fuses.

Today the czech cooker arrived but I've had to arrange to send it straight back.

For a start it is NOT a 3l cooker. I still have the tin from the standard 2 litre Remoska that I had and broke many many years ago and the QVC tin is almost identical in size and depth.

Secondly, I did not feel comfortable with the removable electric cable which inserts into one of two handles on the lid, rather than into the main long handle. It made the lid feel very unbalanced to hold and, coupled with the much shorter cable than on the Lakeland version, I just didn't feel safe with it.

When I phoned QVC customer services, the lady at the end of the line checked with a supervisor and came back and told me that it was a 3litre pan if you filled it to the brim rather than to the ridge where the lid fits. I explained that the lid sits in that ridge and suggested that the website info should be updated but she did not seem interested. Now I have to wait 5-7 days for recollection and up to 21 days for a refund.

I think I am done with remoska cooking, sadly..... :(

Thank you so much for posting this review of your experience with the other cooker and QVC service. I have a Remoska and had been thinking of getting the QVC one as I thought a bigger one would be handy. Thank goodness I read this first as it has saved me from making a bad decision!:A

Happy to help! I left a similar review on the QVC website but we shall see if it gets published....

BTW, I noticed that my very old 2l tin (maybe 10 years old) is much better quality teflon than the newer one I had to return. You can see scratches on the surface of the pan but none of them have gone through to the aluminium and I used it loads (still do as a baking pan), so I guess those people with the older ones will probably find they last a long long time. :)

I am now looking into the Morphy Richards intellichef.....
