Remoska cookers (merged)

Hi everybody.
Now that I'm following a Slimming World regime, while still trying to be OS and as moneysaving as possible, the good old Mosky has been a stalwart ally. The big problem/advantage of the SW regime is that it is "forcing" me to do more cooking from scratch - I know, I know: should be doing it anyway, but it's tough to stay disciplined when cooking for one. That and a toast addiction make it too easy to reach for the bread bin when making a proper meal is so much effort. This is how I got to be so overweight in the first place, but enough of that.
Also, and just as important, the regime is "forcing" me to eat more veg.
Anyway... I thought I'd give kale crisps a go as a way of making kale interesting and providing a "nibble" that isn't trying to kill me. On the other hand, I don't have an oven at the mo, so all my roasting has to be shared between the Mosky and the slow cooker.
Finally the question: do the experts think that the Mosky will be able to crisp the kale, or will it be cooked but not crispy due to the condensation? Any guidance would be much appreciated! It may be that I'll have to defer my crisp-substitute attempts until I have acquired an oven. By the way, I have the standard Mosky with the deep and the shallow pan, plus the grill rack, so it's quite versatile.
The irony is that I don't even like potato crisps, so it's not as though kale ones would be taking their place.0 -
You can but try really - I don't think it will. I've been using mine solidly for the last 4 months since our oven broke and can't get any veg to crisp in there.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0

Hi
I'd agree with Brighton Belle, I have made many meals with great success in the Remoska but no veg has been crispy , I tried to make sweet potato fries / wedges and they tasted great but were very soft.
I don't eat meat and have made lovely veg recipes in Remoska , for veggie stews / casseroles I like the texture better than a slow cooker which i thought made everything a bit soupy!
Good luck with your SW , toast has been my weakness too!0 -
Sadly my lovely Remoska (very grubby looking by now!) died a death a couple of weeks ago. Heartbroken as I used it for almost everything. It turns out I had had it for 8+ 1/2 years.
Since then they have doubled in price- but I ordered a new one!
The old pans don't fit at all.
What I do is put a silicone cake case (like a sponge cake 'tin') in the base and either cook in that or even put a foil dish or stoneware dish on top. The silicone cases now look very old and battered but they seem to have vanished from the cheapie shops which is a pain. In fact they don't seem to be in any shop or even online. Frustrating.
The new Remoska doesn't have glass in the lid, the inside of the lid is flat so easier to clean and it has 4 vent holes.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

When my Remoska died a few months ago I bought a new one from a company called Alza.uk it cost £89 they have the larger one for £109. It came all the way from Czechoslovakia and took 3 days, I was able to track it all the way. It is exactly the same as the Lakeland one the only difference is that it is fitted with a European plug, but they give you the option to purchase an adaptor that cost about £4, It is guaranteed for 2 years, a year less than Lakeland. I was happy to take the chance for the cheaper price.0
