  • Im watching the Ideal world tv presentation of their Electric square cooker(apparantly nicknamed in the past as a Bakemoska!)

it is frightenly similar to a Remoska, but only £39.99(+£5.95 p+p)
its a 4litre capacity,650watts,and cooks at between 180-220,c...same as a remoska) The chef guy has cooked,pizza/cake/gnocchi/turkey leg/pork chops...I know Ideal world's customer service is not a patch on Lakelands,BUT £39.99 for something very similar to a Lakeland product that retails at £119...can it possibly be as good?????

PS,Im still loving my Remoska, and have the reassurance of replacement from Lakeland should anything go wrong

  • Ive bought the grand, and (despite my initial concerns:o)im enjoying cooking with it,I think i needed a couple of days off work to spend time "getting to know it",anyhow,im wondering do many people buy the shallow pan as well? and if so,what kind of things do you cook in it rather than using the large pan that comes with the grand.?Thanks.

I've also got the shallow pan, things cook a lot quicker in there than the shallow pan as its nearer the lid. Cooked breakfast and things like sausages are ideal in there. I would definitely recommend having the two pans.
  • Yes, I use my shallow pan a lot too - great for cooking a small amount of rice or pasta, oven chips reheating food etc.

  • New person here. Please could anyone tell me how long a Remoska will last? Might seem a silly question but we've had cookers which have only lasted a couple of years and I would be devastated if the Remoska went kaput and Lakeland had stopped selling them.Hope someone can help.

This really is a difficult question to answer as there are simply to many variables that will affect the answer - number of times used, length of cooking times etc. If it helps at all my Remoska was 5 years old when I noticed that the non stick film on the lid was starting to peel off. I phoned Lakeland about it (as I was concerned that it would contaminate the food if bits of film fell into it) - and they sent me a brand new one within a week and arranged collection of my old one - all free of charge! Can't beat customer service like that!:T:T

Right I'm farly new round here but I have moved from jacket potatoes to liver and onions and right now I am doing toad in the hole. Now I am using my own yorkshire pudding mix complete with my own rituals while making (this involves pouring things from great heights...)

Anyway I put the sausages in on their own for the first 20 odd minutes then poured my mix over. Ten minutes later the mix is almost lifting the lid off! I suspect the top bit is burning as it is in direct contact with the heat element. Not really sure what to do to be honest...

That has happened to me too! Luckily the lid is also non stick so it wasn't too bad. The next time I made toad in the hole I reduced the amount of batter and made sure it was in the deep pan! I wouldn't worry too much, it should still taste great!:D

My car decided to drive me to lakeland in Bicester yesterday and there I found lovely little enamel pie dishes, very cheaply. There are several sizes but the one bigger than the smallest one fits the Standard Remoska just right. It's game pie (from a left over casserole) tonight ! (I think it was £2.99)

charlies_mum - I haven't tried to cook anything in the deep pan below the shallow pan but I did use it once to keep wedges warm while I cooked something else. There definitely wouldn't be enough heat to cook something in the bottom but there's just enough heat to keep things passably warm (although obviously people are different, I don't like my food too hot).

retiredlady - you were lucky to get a replacement. I phoned Lakeland a few days ago, because the non stick has come off, especially round the edges, and it looks like it is going rusty. I was told to just wipe it off. I have only had mine for just over a year. I am very disapointed. I might take it into one of their shops and see what they say.
