EMBER, those sprouts look much nicer cooked that way than the usual way, I will try this. Thanks for posting the pic, because I'm a hopeless cook and when people say chopped potatoes or sliced potatoes, I think yes but chopped/sliced to WHAT SIZE ? lol
I just wipe the lid clean too, and to me that's probly the best thing about the remoska, that it saves on all those pots & pans.
Is olive oil much nicer than cooking oil ? I've never tried it.

Olive Oil (you can get a really good one at a sensible price at Lidl - is that how you spell it? lol) tastes better and is good for you - essential fats that are good for the heart and the blood flow, so eating olive oil (extra-virgin is best) prolongs life and helps keep you healthy - it also tastes better too...I baste my roast vegetables in extra-virgin olive oil always - especially easy in the Remoska. Just drizzle it over (don't need too much) and it makes the roast potatoes crispy and golden and healthy!

I'm pleased you're giving it a go - you'll not look back me thinks :D

Forgot to say - yeah! about the sprouts...boiled sprouts are pretty bland...roasted with the rest of the veg in the Remoska turns them into a culinary delight!

The potatoes go in first mind - as they take longer! Add the sprouts, parsnips and carrots an hour before the meal will be ready - just give them a quick stir into the potatoes, drizzle on a little more olive oil (for goodness and taste) and lid it - then go do something more interesting whilst your Remoska makes dinner :T:T:T

LOL - you managed 43 years! Go you!

I'm currently at 21 years and my hubby swears it's because I feed him well - way to a man's heart through his belly? Damn right! *lol* :p

  • Well I FINALLY bought one! I went for the Grand, as there are currently four of us, and I was given the cookbook by my daughter for a present. Saturday night I did some part-baked rolls, and last night I did jacket potatoes. The rolls took longer than I thought they would, more like 20 minutes before they started to brown, and the jacket spuds were 1 hr 20 mins so it'll take a bit of adjustment before I get used to it.

Now please excuse me, I have a 100+ page thread to re-read :D and work to go to somewhere in there too!

  • Well,so much for a moneysaving site!- I've now HAD to go and order a remoska (yikes). I've covetted one for absolutely ages and decided at last to take the plunge - hope I use it! I've ordered the rack as well and was tempted (whilst I'm getting free postage) to add a shallow dish as I quite liked the idea of having my pudding cooking whilst eating my mains - or should I just wash the original dish out - can someone either talk me into/out of this idea before I post the envelope? Thanks.

I'm no doubt too late for you now, AlwaysHappy, but for the sake of anyone else who has the same question, I got the shallow dish and use it all the time. Either for pudding while we eat the main (like you suggest), or for when I have smaller quantities and want them to cook faster, or for making cakes directly in the dish. I also bought the small separater thing, which sits at the back of my cupboard  I suspect it has a lot to do with me not getting my head around how to use it (need things spelling out for me in detail, sometimes!) than that it truly isn't useful, though.

I don't have a rack, but reading all the postings here, I'm starting to think about it. Just don't want it to go the same way as the divider!

We use a wire rack that came with a microwave (If the legs are too long just cut them)
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

I use my rack a lot, I tend to cook veg underneath then use a glass pirex lid on the rack for chops etc. I wish Lakeland would reduce the price of the shallow pan in the January Sales, can't see it happening though.

Yes, I went ahead and got the shallow pan as well, and soooo pleased I did. I often now cook the main meal in the deep pan (with or without the seperator) and then the pudding in the shallow ie a fruit crumble and when we are sat eating our main, shove the pudding on to cook - its so easy to wash up as well. Must admit, got the cookery book and not used it yet - too many other things to try but I do use my rack a couple of times a week.
    I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!
  • This is the first time I have ever, ever, ever posted anything on these Forum thingies! Hours and hours of time have slipped away while I am browsing!
I too, love my moska and a) wish I had bought the bigger size b) wish I hadn't bought the recipe book c) try to ignore the not-so-shiny lid and would love to know how to 'copy and paste' these hints and tips to a separate file?
Looking forward to getting to know you all
