Remoska cookers (merged)

I just wanted to share my experiences with everyone here. Obviously, I can't comment on the halogen oven, but I can say I am very pleased with my moski.:j It has taken me a few dishes to get to know it, but I can already see it's going to my best friend in the kitchen.
I also wanted to clear something up about the rattling in the Grand Remoska that some people have posted about. My lid also rattles and I was all ready to take it back to Lakeland. Anyway, I decided to email "Hooray for Homecooking" the official Remoska bods for their advice and to check if I was worrying over nothing. I got a lovely email back (within 24 hours) reassuring me that my remoska was fine. For those who are interested, this is what Jill at Hooray for Homecooking said:
"You are worrying about nothing....!
The element in the Grand consists of ceramic beads - hence the slight rattle, which is quite normal. Enjoy your new purchase, and please come back to us if you need any more advice."GC May £178/£250 NSD0 -

Thanks, I'm sure they would give me a full refund. But I I've used the thing since the summer, mainly for baking pies, sausage rolls etc. I wouldn't feel right sending it back just because I didn't like it. It works properly and seems to work in the same way other people's do. It's just, for me, it is not the wonder cooker I thought it was going to be.0 -
Do you know where I could get a copy of the Be-ro book, Desperate Housewife? I've seen it mentioned a few times on this thread (possibly all by you
), and am really interested in it.

Roasted a small leg of lamb in my remoska yesterday for the first time, it turned out delicious, really tender. Must admit as my son was coming I roasted the potatoes in my small oven as he loves crispy roast potatoes and I can't get them like it in the remoska.0

I have concluded that liking your Moska is a personality thing. I used regularly to cook great supper parties for up to 12 people on two gas rings in a holiday cottage and it seemed like a pleasurable challenge: cooking in the Moska seems a bit the same to me, slightly hit or miss, needing a bit of ducking and diving (which pan, how long etc etc). I even wondered if it was an age thing where we older folk are a bit more used to things not being quite so cut and dried and were used to 'flying by the seat of our pants', not always using a recipe, or quite enjoying making it up as you went along. No disrespect to anyone else - it's just horses for courses surely (as someone else said) but I think it means that no one cooking device is 'better' it's all just about what suits you. I have a Neff oven which does exactly what I tell it, but my sister has an Aga which seems very temperamental to me, so I like having the precision of the neff (which I've hardly used since Moska arrived) AND the less precise Moska. There, that's what I think ! but I don't think we should fall out over which is BEST, because we're all different.
Happy New year to us all............................0 -
:T It is fabulous, it really is - probably my best purchase for the kitchen.
Some pics for you, to show you the beautiful food it makes....
A really easy one, baked potatoes - so much tastier than microwaved - crispy skins, soft fluffy potato inside :-
And yesterday I made a traditional Yorkshire dish - Toad-in-the-Hole and it came out perfect and I cannot make Yorkshire puddings - but The Remoska can :rotfl:
The Irish sausage were perfect and the Yorkshire Pud was beautiful - fluffy, crispy on the edges and it rose beautifully.
Yes, I love my Grande Remoska :T~What you send out comes back to thee thricefold!~~0 -
I bought 2 of these in the lakeland sale and have already used them

Thanks for loads of tips, recipes and inspiration. I finally ordered the Grande yesterday and found out today that I'd won £150 of Waitrose vouchers via the Competitions thread. So the outlay doesn't seem quite so big now. Looking forward to working my way through the recipes.0

I am slowly ploughing my way through this thread - but I've only reached page 23!!!!!
Is there a list of Remoska recipes here somewhere? Otherwise it could take me the rest of the year to get through........
