Thanks for the geordie - I shall show DH later - it looks like a much more economical purchase for us if for some reason we don't get on with it...

Looks like you've just saved me £60 odd :D

I've never used a halogen cooker so I can't compare the two, but I use my Grande Remoska almost every day and although it is expensive to buy, I know its going to last me a long time, Lakeland have a fantastic guarantee and will replace it at any time, you could even buy one and if you don't like it after trying it they will refund your money:T . I had a very small dent in the pan when mine arrived, I contacted Lakeland and they replaced it immediately and told me to keep the first one or give it to charity!

it must be different strokes for different folks cos i had a halogen for about 6 months before i got my remmy and the halogen has been banished to under the stairs ever since the remmy arrived - the remmy on the other hand is used EVERY day - to me there is no comparison remmy wins hands down everytime - its brilliant!!!

I know a lot of people love their remmies, but name one way that the remmy is better than a halogen?

Well for starters it has its own thread on this site!:money::j:j:j - in case you hadn't noticed this is the Remoska thread - so we would naturally be singing its praises on here. Maybe you could start a halogen thread:rolleyes:

DH, does the magic liner from lakeland cover the whole remoska pan , or just the bottom? I'm wary of doing a cake in it in case it sticks to the sides and burns on.
    Hi Madartha,
I have done loads of cakes directly in the tin, with just a liner on the base. Turns out perfectly every time, and just pops out easily. Tried it once without the liner in the bottom. Turns out that was over-optimistic of me :p

Desperate Housewife - the great classic Moosewood is this one. I guess that is the one kittie has as well.
May I ask if you have the updated 'lighter' version of the recipes which is the book being sold at this link, or do you have the original? I'm wondering whether it's worth tracking down the original, or if the new one is just as good? I'm a bit sceptical about the 'lighter' style of cooking. Think it does away with a lot of the nutrition and flavour, as I distrust 'engineered' food, like margerine. What do you mean, I'm picky and old-fashioned? :rotfl:
  • I love your buns, thanks for posting the piccie.

I'm planning on making a couple of cakes tomorrow ready for the weekend as family are visiting so I'll use the remoska tin as it turned out well last time. I need a new cookery book just for baking I think, all the books I have seem to contradict each other on amounts etc but I do use the be-ro book a lot.
    .
Do you know where I could get a copy of the Be-ro book, Desperate Housewife? I've seen it mentioned a few times on this thread (possibly all by you :D), and am really interested in it.

They sell it in my local Morrisons, on the top shelf of the baking section. About £2 or a bit less.

    So does halogen ovens.
    - in case you hadn't noticed this is the Remoska thread - so we would naturally be singing its praises on here.

Yes but it doesn't say "praise only"! Perhaps you should rename it "Remoska lovers only" :money:

Only allowing praise in the thread gives people a false impression of how good they are. I bought one after reading this thread and regret it, wish I'd read the halogen oven thread first!
Maybe you could start a halogen thread:rolleyes:

Already got one, and we don't mind people telling the truth (as they see it) in there.
  • So does halogen ovens.

    Really - I didn't know that. How fascinating!

What a wonderful idea - I wonder how one does that?:p

You know if you bought it from Lakeland they will give you a refund if you are not 100% happy with it?

I sincerely believe we are telling the truth on here also. Different strokes for different folks I guess!:D

Have a wonderful new year and may all the meals you cook be happily received!

  • Before you go out and buy one you should read this thread.

Having had a standard remoska for many months, and a halogen oven for one month I can honestly say the halogen oven is ten times better than a remoska. Less than half the price too, and if you buy a jml from betterware instead of directly from JML you don't pay postage.

After the hols my remoska will go on ebay as I'll never use it again.

Joe it may be worth giving Lakeland a call if your not happy with your remoska, as far as I know if you are not happy for any reason at all they will give you a full refund.
