Well, sausage n oven chips were fine! :T
Took a lot longer than I expected tho, (but were Jumbo Cumberland sausages...)so while it was still cooking, I stuck OH on Remoska-Watch :p and drove down the road to Aldi five minutes before they shut!
OH commented that the oven chips were nice....and he always hated them in the fan oven 'cos they get hard and burnt.(I cremate everything....got this fear of poisoning people by undercooking )!!!
Got a large cake pan, loaf dish and some silicone brushes from Aldi....great value!
Also got some ready cut cake pan liners.
I've also recently got a Panasonic bread maker....so I will be cooking with all my new toys from now on.
I didn't get the Remoska receipe book from Lakeland, as it seemed to have a lot of fish stuff in there (hate fish!)
I think there's a book on Amazon....can anyone remind me what it is, to save me trawling back thro 67 pages!!
Hmmmm....... what can I cook now........

Hi Vancat, I did sausage and jacket potatoes in my tonight.
I put the jackets in first, then after about half an hour, I sat my potaoes in little foil baskets and put some sausages in the pan around them.
    3 jackets and 10 sausages.
I left them in for about an hour and a half in total, but turned the sausages part way through.
If I'd been a bit more organised  then I should have defrosted my mushy peas and cooked them in a dish on the rack.

The jackets were far nicer than those done in my oven.

I've got the Lakeland book but not tried anything yet.

I was on an American forum earlier and mentioned ordering a Remoska explaining I was hoping it would save some money on electricity.

Someone replied saying they had googled it and would love one but it would not work with the American electrical system., when we were all surprised to find there was now an American importer who dealt in them.

The person was really keen on the idea as her DH said that in the event of a blackout the Remoska which only used 400 watts could be operated on their emergency generator.

    Morning Remoska Experts!:D
I'm still playing with my new toy....trying to make a toastie.
It's been in there half a hour...what am I doing wrong? Do you pre heat the remoska first?
It's now going brown but should I put it on the rack or on a pan on the rack??
I'd die of starvation if it takes an hour to make a toasted sarnie!!!!!:D
    Thanks

Definitely use the rack to get it near to the heat in the lid.

  • Roast potatoes

Has anyone tried doing this in the moski without parboiling them first?
I am wondering if it will help not having the extra moisture in there but obviously they would take longer to cook, I should think.

Might give it a try today as I LOVE my roasties being crispy.

Also, has anyone roast parsnips in there yet? Do they come out crispy?

    Thanks.

We bought the rack for the grand, but not the shallow pan.So I was using the rack and sitting a baking pan on top of that to raise the food.
I think perhaps the old pans I'm using aren't getting the stuff high enough up.
Perhaps I'd better buy the shallow pan as well then...I was trying to be MS and save £30.
Oh well, OH has just eaten the toastie and said it was very nice!
Do people pre heat their Remoska, as even if it was my oven, I'd have to wait until it reached temperature and presumably the Remoska does take time to get to cooking temperature?
    Thanks

  • I'm pretty sure the book advises you not to preheat the remoska. Bad for the teflon pan I think

    No, do NOT preheat it.
I didnt get the shallow pan at first as I measured its depth against the normal Grand pan and as the depth difference was so slight I thought it wouldnt make any difference - but it does! Things cook much quicker.

Glad you are enjoying it! :T

If I want to preheat my remoska I put a dish of boiling water on the rack and switch on :D works a treat
