Do most of you cook just straight in the base of the Remoska, or use another pan/tin inside?

I'm still getting to grips with the idea of it (as daft as that may sound)... I've only used it so far to make 4 crumbles:o

Hiya Olive, nice to see you. I havent used my cooker since I bought the ramoska. In answer to your question it really does depend on what you are cooking, I tend to pop most things straight in the pan but if I am cooking a roast I tend to use the rack. I use tins for yorkshire puds and cakes and foil type tins for cooking rice and curries together in the pan.

Its just a case of trial and error really, I have now mastered the perfect chip and potato wedges:D

P.S. I left my apples on the table at the Leeds meet so I hope whoever took them enjoyed them:o
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.

So how does it heat all the way round things like a real oven if you are using it like a pan, but the heat getting to the food from the top rather than the bottom... that's the bit that's confusing me.

Hello Louise  (if you think you know me, that'll be the other OliveOyl... there's 2 of us... she's the capital letters, I'm the lower case lol)
    TOP MONEYSAVING TIP

Make your own Pot Noodles using a flower pot, sawdust and some old shoe laces. Pour in boiling water, stir then allow to stand for two minutes before taking one mouthful, and throwing away. Just like the real thing!

Like gairlochgal, I usually cook directly in pan but it depends on what I am cooking, sometimes I put food in a silicone bakeware container if it is a smaller quantity. I have the grand, so sometimes, it can be too large but most of the time it is the right size for us.

LouiseJ - can you let us know what is your secret for the perfect chips and wedges?

    Potato Wedges

Blast whole potatoes in the microwave until they are almost cooked but havent gone to the fluffy stage. Cut them into wedges, spray with frylite and put on the rack (they still work in the base too but take longer).

    Chips

Peel (or leave skins on if you like) pots and cut into chunky chips, par boil, drain and dry shake about in the pan (gently) then spray with frylite and chuck in the ramoska.

I know I am using two cooking methods but it is still quicker and more economical than using the oven.

It's because the pan conducts the heat so well the food gets cooked from the bottom as well as the top

In Aldi they have silicone bakeware for £3.49 and they have a round one that fits in the Remoska!! Also they had cake tin liners. I bought the 9" one and cut it to fit my Grande.
  • Oh no! Lakeland have disappeared from Quidco and i was going to order a shallow pan!

    Hi All
OH has bought me a Remoska today.:j ...and I've already called Lakeland as the first time I switched it on, there was smokey vapour coming out of the handle, ,,,the lovely lady there said it does happen sometimes and to see how it went, but if I wasn't happy, call back and they'd send a replacement.
(Their customer service does seem brilliant, from what I've read on here.)
Anyway, I've got the Grand, the rack and a Magic Liner thingy which I've cut to fit the bottom of the pan.
I also got a load of various sized tin liners, as the lady in the shop said they use them instead of tins/separators.
I will be heading down to Aldi tomorrow...looking for silicone bakeware...thanks linni...anything else I need?
At the moment I've got cumberland sausages in a tin, on the rack, and I've chucked some Aunt Bessies oven chips on the bottom of the pan, on the liner thing....is this right? Any idea how long this will take? (Not really hungry...I just want to play with my new toy!!!!:rotfl: )
    Thanks
    VC
  • Hi vancat, congrats on your new arrival! Sounds like you are up and running on the remoska front!

I haven't used mine today as I made sarnies for lunch and then just pasta and pesto for tea as I couldn't be bothered to cook much. Tomorrow its slow cooked beef joint in the sc but hoping to do yorkshire puds in remoska. First time I've done them so I hope they turn out ok :)
