is that the same time for calls as texts ?

7.00 pm to 7.00 am evenings and from 7.00 pm Friday to 7.00 am Mondays.
Fair use policy for Orange is 3,000 texts a month
  • Dont forget if you are on this tariff if you dont turn your text message delivery reports off you will be charged 1p for everyone you receive. Could work out expensive if you send those 3000 off peak and weekend texts :-)

Thanks - I just called to make sure the "30 Minute Video Calling Try" bundle I had on my Dolphin 15 plan doesn't become billable in the next month (like the Orange World Try plan they gave me last year, although in fairness Orange credited my account after I explained they gave me no warning this would suddenly become billable), and all things going well - I hope - I should be transferred onto the Dolphin 10 plan from my next billing period.

I'll come back here to let you all know, but in the meantime, thanks everyone for saving me £5 per month!
I did say I'd update the thread, and I'm disappointed to report that Orange seem to have ignored my request and left me on the Dolphin 15 plan - which I imagine, after I call, will end up in me being told "As it's now past your billing anniversary, we'll be continuing to charge you this rate until we f&%^ it up again, promise we'll change you down to the Dolphin 10 plan next time, and promptly forget".

It seems nothing can ever go right for me in a money saving situation - ever

Just as yet another update (I know - nobody is reading these, but still), it turns out I'm an Orange Retail customer and so am not eligible for the web-only Dolphin 10 plan, but they didn't bother to call me to tell me this and just said "Yes, that's fine" when switching.

So if anybody is in the same boat as me (i.e. an existing Orange customer), it looks like you won't be able to change to the Dolphin 10 plan.

Call 150 and ask to speak to the cancellations team and maybe they will be able to action your request to go onto the Dolphin 10 plan.

It seems they are now offering the 300 free texts on a payg tariff so long as you top up £10 per month (dolphin plan)
  • Hi testpie, it should be no trouble at all IF you are on a one month rolling sim only contract, to migrate onto the Dolphin £10 package. If you are having no joy, I suggest you email there executive office detailing your case, and advise them when you initially asked to be migrated onto Dolphin £10. I would also suggest to them, they should credit you the £5 for the month that due to their incompetence they did not transfer you across. If you are tied into a 12/18 month contract then you wont be able to change until your minimum contract period is up.

For every asking what unlimited/Fair Use Policy means I'm reasonably certain this means either 3000 texts/3000 minutes. [and even then you'd be fine if you did this on an ocassional basis]

I was considering that, but I haven't got the bottle to say that I'd leave, so it wouldn't work out well.

I am on a one month rolling SIM only contract, but apparently I'm with Orange Retail as opposed to their web division. Either way, I do like the idea of complaining to the executive office, as I was initially told that I would be swapped to the new plan, and called well in advance of my billing anniversary so that this would be the case.
