no offence intended to anyone here but i personally used to work at tv licensing, the letters that are sent out are printed in advance as there are millions to be sent out, once you purchase your licence it isnt possible to sort through the millions of letters waiting to be sent out just to retrieve one.the letters to state to the present occupier, sometimes they do have a name on but this name is taken from the electrol roll. It is an extremely hard place to work due to the ammount of abusive the staff receive people who call are extremely rude and abusive when they call. No one likes to by a tv licence but at the end of the day it is the law and the people who work there are only trying to earn a living why not give them a break.

No offence, but have you seen the letters themselves? They are VERY abusive and it is no wonder people get upset when they call you guys.

I am sure it isn't your fault but maybe you should have complained to your supervisors before you left since it is because TV Licensing is treating everyone without a licence as some sort of criminal that people are annoyed and abusive.

I agree somewhat with helliecopter - Killbill, you have a selfish attitude and are no better than the 'fat cats sitting on their asses' as you so succinctly put it. With people like you trying to cheat the system, honest people like us have to make up the difference, and so the TV Licence fee rises.

you really need to get a reality check

you think that the tv license rises becuase of the people who dont buy a tv license - wrong

it goes to pay the fat cats at the top of the company salarys and also to pay jonathan woss £6 million a year and the others like him.

i so really dont wnat to contribute to those peoples salaries, if you do then thats entirely upto you - so get off the pulpit with your nonsense preaching

So Bill, you'll happily pay for movie to watch on your TV, or a game to play on it, but not for a licence to watch the tele?

    Where's the logic in that?
It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical

That's not really fair Kill Bill after all chou & I are law abidding and you're not! No-one's preaching bill... just saying how it is. Everyone is entitled to an opnion and I agree with Chou. It's bound to have a knock on effect if people don't pay. The employment, administration and other costs of catching people like you, have to come from somewhere. You show a very naive and immature view bill.

I think the true reason you have no licence is because you're late teens and still live at home. You carry on playing your computer games and talking the talk and let other people pay whilst you scrouge. Do you know my favourite tv show is the Muppets?

Kill Bill, I wasn't going to reply to you, as you have been unnecessarily abusive, however I just want to say I agree with you on one point. The BBC do pay their presenters far too much, and I think that is absolutely unfair. I also think Jonathan Ross is a crude waste of space, but not paying your TV licence is hardly the correct way to go about disagreeing. Apart from the fact that it is breaking the law, you're no better than people who unjustly claim benefits.

I take it from your comments then that you never visit the cinema, or rent or buy films - as the cost of this only goes to pay for the film stars exhorbitant salaries.

Kill Bill you really do kill me! I love a bit of healthly banter - you cheeky chappie you! I tell you what... do you want me to keep lining them up for you and then you can knock them in?

I've noticed you don't deny that you're young and still at home - I reckon I've hit the nail on the head. Any way I hope you've been a good boy today and eaten all your tea. It's getting late now and we don't want you staying up to late, annoying people. Remember tv off at 10 and light out - oh sorry I forgot you rarely watch it! You should really get a licence and then you'd be able to watch a lot of educational programs which may really benefit you.

I could stay and waffle on.... but I've got adult things to do.

your off to see your phyciatrist ? ok - but you should ask for your money back coz your never gonna get over your condition ;)
  • Billy Boy - With reference to my previous comment, about watching the television for the educational benefit. I would like to clarify for your benefit, that it probably won't improve your written English..

"You're going to see your psychiatrist? You should ask for your money back, because you are never going to get over your condition"

I don't have any mental health problems nor ever have had. I'm surprised by your immaturity to make a cheap jibe, about what is a serious illness. Life is a lesson to be learned and you certainly should start turning up at school.

This is my last post with regards to the matter and would like to apologise to the original poster, as his thread has gone so off course. Billy Boy, I'm sure you'll add a whitty comment in your defence. The fact still remains the same.... IF YOU WATCH TELEVISION YOU'RE LEGALLY REQUIRED TO BUY A LICENCE.You can argue and snipe all you like, but you're breaking the law.

of course i have seen the letters like i said i worked there, the letters to become more strongly worded if there is no response to previous letters, there is know way of knowing the individual circumstances of every property within the UK, if a person was to ring and say a property is unoccupied the letters would be stopped for a set period of time approx 3 months at which point a letter would be sent to ask if the circumstances are the same, same with if people do not have TV set if you ring and tell them the letters will stop. The letters do take into account if you have the new occupant of the property etc but people dont seem to read past the first sentance of the letter.

At the end of the day the letters have to be sent because if someone was taken to court for not havin a licence they have to show that the evader was given countless opportunities to buy a licence and made aware they are breaking the law.

I think they are right to send the letters i dont personally agree the TV licence should have to be paid at all but why should I have to pay when other people are gettin away with not payin?
