Anybody who feels harassed by these people should write to them, sending the letter by recorded delivery telling them why you don't need a licence i.e. no television, and stating that they are in breach of the 1997 Harassment Act. Also mention that you withdraw the implied right to for them to visit your property. If they then continue the harassment inform the police. That would be interesting !

Whilst agreeing totally with your comments about harassment, I feel that by writing to this bunch you are to some extent acknowledging their tactics as being acceptable.

The Law is clear - you need a TV Licence to watch or record live TV - that is all.
You do not need a licence to own a TV, you do not need a licence to watch DVDs.
Why should you have to to prove to them that you are not breaking the Law ? The onus is on them - not on you.
I actually have a letter from my MP in which he says that TV Licensing acknowledge that I have "banned" them from my property ! I wrote to him, not to them.

Got another 'You need a license' letter - No I don't

Again I was planning to ignore it as a) I'm licensed b) the only options there letter to me to correct their mistake cost me money

Before add the letter to my junk pile I did a search to see if a freephone number is available, and there is 0800 328 2020 (option 4) - why can't they put this number on the letter they send

What are the chances the letters will now stop
