This thread is so funny-soo obvious whats going on.
BTW only 5 threads running on the Vent,Bent and Heaven sent board mostly complaining about memory foam mattress companies.Mostly new posters too :rotfl::A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. Don't worry. Hollydays is paranoid like meester. They come on here occasionally and slate me because they think it's all a big conspiricy.
As for the threads complaining about memory foam mattress companies, they probably think that all the complaints are made by me. The truth is I had never even heard about the company in question until the thread started. And don't they think that if I was going to come on here and slate the competition, then I would choose a company that is actually serious competition??0 -
Hi Tim,
Thanks very much for the advice - I'll avoid dreams based on your comments!
So here's my ultimate question:
Which *large* non-ebay (that should make the more paranoid posters less paranoid) company sells the best mattress's that fit the criteria:
1) Pocket sprung + memory foam
2) Not too hot (do any of the trade-marked cooling systems actually work?)
I'm not too worried about the cost although obviously don't want to be ripped off!
Thanks,
Adam0 -
Are the beds from Bensons for beds any good? The wifes friend works there and can get a big discount. I tried this in the showroom http://www.bensonsforbeds.co.uk/ProductDetail.aspx?sID=38494 and it was really comfortable but after reading this I have noticed it is non turn. We are only after a mattress.0

The rest of the mattresses on offer, are unfortunately mostly Rest Assured/Silentnight/Sealy, which are all part of the same company now, that appear to be making mattresses for a high turn over but low quality market. I, myself have suffered with a Silentnight mattress that barely lasted two years and they wanted almost half the price of a new one plus a whopping delivery charge to replace it under warrenty. Not worth it. The Relyon ones, as you rightly pointed out, are non-turn so would also avoid those...kinda leaving you with nothing!?
The fact that they are offering those mattresses on there at ridiculous discounts, and your friend can get even more BIG discounts off that, does suggest that quality is not a criteria for those makes/models.
I have just paid for a new mattress, and at COST plus 10% I have paid nearly £600. It is the best mattress ive ever owned or slept on and the owner of the shop said he's had the same model as his own mattress for 12years!!!
I think you need to increase your budget if you want sufficient quality enough to last you more than the ones shown at Bensons. Hope Tim or TiTherev can help me here (or anyone else for that matter), I've read all your comments and it looks as though a pocket spring memory foam mattress is probably out of my price range. I have a budget of £200 max to replace my awful silent night.
I've seen this on ebay, the seller says its made by Breasely in the UK. do you think its worth a punt for that kind of money?kicking squealing gucci little piggy.0 -
Ouch! At that price you'd hope to get BIG discount

Thanks for the advice. I would be paying nothing like the prices quoted but a massive discount on a c£*p bed is no good. I am not on a budget as I hope the mattress lasts 10 years like our present one. Its a false economy going cheap on something you use every night which only lasts a couple of years. Can you tell me what mattress you bought or would that leave you open to Snidey comments from certain idiots on some sort of a personal crusade against you and Tim?
Thanks0 -

You should be able to get a very nice coil sprung mattress with that budget. Are you after single/double/king? I cant access eBay during work so cant check the one you've added the link for im afraid
Well i quite like the idea of pocket sprung memory foam, the ebay one has the following spec £165 100% feedback
Brand New
Excellent Quality
Total Thickness 20cm
5cm Orthopaedic Foam Top Layer
15cm Layer of encapsulated Pocket Springs
Over 1000 Pocket Springs in the Bottom Layer
i know its not a turn around but for the money i could replace it in a couple of years. Would i be better off with a good open coil rather than a cheaper pocket spring mem foam? were after a standard double for a slatted bed.
