  • hi, i bought a new bed and mattress last year..... this is the mattress i got, so it wasn't exactly a cheap one ( well not to me!)

its supposed to be memory foam but it doesn't feel any different to me! my back still aches, so i wondered about getting one of these to go on top of it as i can't afford to splash out on another mattress

i just wondered if anyone had bought one of these, and what they were like?

    thanx

From what you have said, and the fact that the mattress you have appears to be exclusive to Argos, leads me to believe that it is in fact a low quality mattress. Also they don't say how deep the memory foam is. Looking at the picture I'd say that the memory foam is probably 1" deep at the most. The density is probably also very low, so it won't give you very good support.

If you do get a topper, don't get it from Argos (yet again they don't give the density). Buy one with the density between 60 and 70kg per m3. Also when you consider that the mattress already contains memory foam, you don't want the topper to be too deep, otherwise you will just sink in and become too warm.

This is why I keep saying that the only bargains at Argos are items that are reduced to clear. Other items that appear cheap, are usually cheap quality.

I've actually mentioned previously that they are verry middle of the range. Also the mattress in the link is non turn.

Looks like both of you could do with better mattresses if you're both up at 3/4am! I have been sleeping like a baby on my new mattress 8)

I'm afraid our business is high turnover/low profit. So yes we do have to do VAT returns. Like I said previously, I don't come on here to sell, that is all done through the web site and ebay.

    Looking for some advice.

I am wanting a kingsize divan bed, for my new house. I currently have a cumfilux ortho 800 pocket sprung mattress which we find quite comfortable and it is going strong 3.5 yrs now, so we are looking for something similar in firmness in the new mattress.

I am 15st and my wife is 8st, so a pocket spring would be better suited i think for us. Also, the divan base, has to be cream or goldish in colour to match the rooms decor (wifes requirement). Budget is around 500 to 700.

Bit wary of memory foam,as dont want an extra hot bed.
