Purely from a firmness and general feel it 'should' be similar. Materials will differ between brands, and as long as its not a budget brand with too much or too little foam etc then it will be a fair comparison.

Maybe make a note of the ones you try and we (Tim!) can tell you if they are similar enough to be a suitable comparison?

Oh, and take into consideration spring count too. If you are comparing 800 to 2000 it will differ somewhat ;)

Spring count, good thought, thank you. I'll look out for a 1000 springer in Dreams.

Oohhhh! My Millbrook Romance mattress newly arrived from Mattressman on a recommendation from Tim is fantastic! Most comfortable night's sleep I've had for ages and ages.

Nearly killed us getting it up the stairs mind (weighs nearly 70kg according to the delivery guy)... ;)

Glad you enjoy it, and hope it serves you well :)

Dont forget to turn it ;) once a week for the first couple of months, then every couple of weeks if poss.

Note to stirrers: This is not a brand Tim sells, yet he recommended it and another happy MSE user sleeps well!

We did go to Dreams right at the beginning of our search, before I knew a pocket from an open or a reflex from a memory. We tried a couple, but not sure now what they were. Good idea, we will go back now we know what's what.

What did you buy in the end and where from?

I got the La Romantica Madrid in the end and i am very happy with my purchase. I think it is a bit firmer than the Venice that you have choosen.

Edit: I can see you are looking at the madrid, i looked at a comparable silentnight mattress in dreams which cost around £850 and i think i tried out there own brand version too.
    In Progress!!!

Sealy Windermere Pocket Pillow Top Divan Bed. Cheapest at £849 with 4 drawers.

I have seen this at MFI and quite like it, is it any good for backache sufferer. I have noticed a lot of recommendation for La Romantica Madrid, what firmness is the mattress. I am not sure whether to go for a medium or firm one!! Thanks

You do know that Sealy are the same company as Silentnight don't you?

Thank you very very much indeed for your post. The reason is, I had got myself confused between the La Romantica Venice and the La Romantica Madrid!

It is in fact the Venice I have my eye on - it is a 1500 spring medium with foam top and bottom. One of us is about 10 stone, so we thought a medium would be better for us than a medium-firm?

I am so glad your post made me spot my silly mistake!

So it's a medium with 1500 springs and foam that I need to look out for in Dreams tomorrow.
