For a double you should be able to get a decent mattress within your budget. Pocket sprung provides the better support BUT would not be advised if the slats are more than 3" apart. You can fill them in with more slats or put a board over them if you like though.

Can I just clarify a point that TiTheRev just made:

If a mattress is pocket sprung only, then the gaps should be no more than 1". However if it is a 2 sided pocket sprung/memory foam mattress then the gaps can be up to 3".

Argh, I have just received my matresss from Mattressland, but it's the wrong one!

I have been sent a Touch Classic 2000, rather than the (more expensive) Touch Pocket 2000 I ordered.

It weighs 56kg and took a month to be delivered, I will have to wait till tomorrow to find out how much hassle it's going to be to change it.

I can't believe you paid that much for a non turn Sleepeezee mattress in the first place.

Did the guy walk with it? It'd take me that long too ;)

Hope you get it sorted, but 2000 is a bit too high a spring count dont you think  :rotfl:

I can see now why meester has been trying to start arguments in favor of high spring counts and non turn mattresses.........because they have ignored all the advice and bought one........obviously they know best  :rotfl:

Well now I've found just how much it weighs (last mattress was cheap and nasty and surely under 20kg), do I want to turn it?

    Do I hell.

Actually there was two guys. I was quite impressed, they even carried it upstairs and into my bedroom, the bed deliverers refused to carry it further than the front door. They did grumble a bit about having had a long day though.

    A bit harsh

Not once has he mentioned any products he does, and believe it or not there are quite a few companies that do turnable, memory foam, pocket sprung mattresses, so it's not any benefit to him at all, merely what he recommends as a man in the trade.

Get the missus off the phone, this is a money-saving website, tell her she's running up the bill ;)
