Mattressman have just delivered my Millbrook. At least, I hope that's what it is. I'm at work and the mattress is still in it's box in my lobby.
Let's hope it's still in your lobby when you finish work

    'All the advice'?

Do you mean I haven't followed your handy step-by-step guide to end up buying a turnable memory foam pocket spring mattress from your company? Hmm.......

As you well know I give out advice to loads of people on here. I am not the only person who sells two sided pocket sprung/memory foam mattresses, and I don't give out my company name in the forums either. So anyone who reads the forums and takes advice would end up with a top notch mattress. The chances of it being from me are very slim.

You seem to forget that when you returned to this thread to try and staert another argument I had advised someone about three different mattresses from mattressman. I have nothing to do with mattressman, and they are my rivals.

You asked advice, I gave it, then you have gone for something completely different and over priced.

Well now I've found just how much it weighs (last mattress was cheap and nasty and surely under 20kg), do I want to turn it?

    Do I hell.

You completely miss the point.........ALL MATTRESSES THAT CAN BE TURNED, SHOULD BE TURNED ON A REGULAR BASIS. THOSE MATTRESSES THAT CAN'T BE TURNED, OR IF YOU DON'T TURN A TWO SIDED MATTRESS, THEY WON'T LAST AS LONG (especially if they are pocket sprung).

So even if you don't turn it as often as you are supposed to, just by getting someone to help you turn it occasionally will increase the life of your mattress, and save you money.........after all this is Money Saving Expert.
  • If a mattress is too heavy to turn, I imagine rotating it would help. Applies to turn and non-turn mattresses.

A smart salesman tried to sell me a non-turn that was soft on the left and medium on the right, which would have make it non-turn and non-rotate. Luckily I had been reading this forum!

So don't be frightened of considering pocket sprung/memory foam. I personally don't find mine any warmer than my old open coil sprung mattress.

Interesting. I gather from this Tim that you have a pocket sprung with memory foam. After much thrashing around that's what I have concluded is best. I have my eye on a La Romantica Venice. Not cheap at £400, but would I be right in thinking that a mattress of this sort (if you can't comment on this particular one) is worth the money?

To adhere to forum ettiquette, im sure he will refrain from commenting Wistful, but if you can, pocket sprung with memory foam on both sides is a big plus and usually worth the expense.

I have this kind of mattress and can highly recommend it, i certaintly felt it was worth the money.

Why not go and try some mattress out in dreams they have the same sort of mattress, double sided memory foam with pocket sprung and see what you think of it. That is what my wife and i did one weekend to help us decide.

We did go to Dreams right at the beginning of our search, before I knew a pocket from an open or a reflex from a memory. We tried a couple, but not sure now what they were. Good idea, we will go back now we know what's what.

What did you buy in the end and where from?

Don't let the Dreams salesguys intimidate you. I went in whilst searching for the style of mattress I wanted and they followed us around offering to help us and give us interest free credit, but always recommending the next model up!

Just look for the style you want, and get a feel for firmness required and with or without memory foam etc...and then walk out!

Thanks. But do all "medium to firm with memory foam" mattresses feel similar? The La Romantica Madrid Memory Foam and Pocket Sprung King Size Mattress at £439 isn't cheap but is looking favourite at the moment. But if I go into Dreams and try out a medium to firm with memory foam is it really going to be an accurate indication of what the La Romantic will be like?
