That's why ive got my 1400 spring, pocket sprung, damask cover with lambs wool filling, fully turnable, hand stitched King size bed winging its way to me as I type...I will let you know in about 10-12 years how it's going
TiTheRev, which make and model was it? Apologies if you say which in another post - couldn't find it.0 -
I plumped for a Staples mattress in the end. Got a good deal with a friend I used to go to school with

Thank you very very much indeed for your post. The reason is, I had got myself confused between the La Romantica Venice and the La Romantica Madrid!
It is in fact the Venice I have my eye on - it is a 1500 spring medium with foam top and bottom. One of us is about 10 stone, so we thought a medium would be better for us than a medium-firm?
I am so glad your post made me spot my silly mistake!
So it's a medium with 1500 springs and foam that I need to look out for in Dreams tomorrow.
Please can you let me know which one you are going to buy and some feedback on it afterwards. I am still looking and have been checking the Madrid and the Venice, they are both about £561 with four drawers + postage. A bit reluctant to buy as I cannot try it in the shop. I did fany the Sealy Windermere, but Tim has put me off and the other one I got my eye on is a slumberland premier seal and this is more expnesive than Romantica brand. Tim, pl which one would you recommend for backache as the Madrid seems to be between medium/firm? Thanks0 -
Hi All,
I'm new to this sort of thing, but I'm trying to find a decent mattress for my wife and I. Have tried a few out and prefer the more firm types. I've looked through the thread and agree that we want a pocket sprung, turnable, but do not like the memory foam.
Based on the recommendations I am looking at either a La Romantica Charlotte or a Kozee Sleep Pocket Master or Orthapedic.
Can anyone let me know if there is much difference between these makes? Or give us any other recommendations.
Thanks!!

From what I understand, the Charlotte/Pocket Master and Orthapaedic are all medium-firm but with slightly varying spring counts and materials used for different types of comfort.
It may be an idea to go to a showroom and scout for mattresses with similar spring counts etc, and then you can get a feel for the style of mattress it will be before committing to any purchase.

what's that? Tim only recommends the beds he sells and which are scarcely available anywhere else, and slags off all competing beds until you are left with his?
Shome mishtake shurely?
Get your facts right and read this:Glad you enjoy it, and hope it serves you well
Dont forget to turn itonce a week for the first couple of months, then every couple of weeks if poss.
Note to stirrers: This is not a brand Tim sells, yet he recommended it and another happy MSE user sleeps well!

Hope it is a good one.
I went to Dreams yesterday. Oh dear, they didn't have anything directly comparable to the La Romantica Venice or the Millbrook 1400 and I got the salesman's usual nonsense. Tried out a Kaymed Keats 2000 spring which was comfortable, but very overpriced (£1199 with base!).
Also went to another bed shop near Dreams and tried out a lovely Harrison Jasper which even online is £900 http://www.yorkshirebedsonline.com/product_info.php?products_id=549.
So I am more confused than ever and feeling quite incapable of making a decision at the moment.0 -

Hi Loulou,
If we ever do buy a new mattress I will let you know! But at the moment I don't know what to do. The ones in the shops you can try out are so overpriced it would hurt to pay that much knowing how much cheaper you can get them online, BUT the ones that look just right online I can't find in any shop to try out.
You can get the La Romantica Venice online for £499 king size.0 -

Just a word on the Harrison. It may be a one-off but my parents bought a Harrison bed recently, but after only just over a year it was uncomfortable. They got on to Harrison who wanted to charge them £400 for a replacement (a similar sliding scale reimbursment to Silentnight), but after a few phone calls and getting a local 'bed-doctor' out, they got a free replacement due to poor manufacture. Feels good quality to lie on, but not sure about longevity. They did at least get a free replacement, however it's now in the spare room as they bought another while the saga dragged on and dont totally trust the quality!:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. Crikey, this thread is getting a bit heated!
Can I please ask a bed related question?
Just curious. I've had two memory foam beds (1 x Kaymed and 1 x Myers) and both have been quite chemically smelly when unwrapped from the packaging. Any recommendations for how long they should be aired for before sleeping on? I did sleep on one the same night while still smelling and had some very psychadelic "Yellow Submarine" type dreams. Would like to avoid this happening again as my family are now buying them (they love mine) and I'm worried in case it affects the kids. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
