I'm nigh on certain that our bed that we bought about 5-6yrs ago is a Queen size when first moved home.
We bought it with a cheap mattress (not a clue what make) and it "pings" and isnt the most comfortable thing around so decided its time to splash on a decent mattress....this La Romantica Madrid model sounds good?
Heres the stupid question....am I missing something or do none of the sites seem to sell Queen sized mattresses? Only ever seem to see them listing Singles, Doubles, and King size?
That's because Queen size isn't a UK size, and it can vary in dimensions depending on where in the world the size is based on.
What are the dimensions of the mattress?0 -
Have had a search and have found this one which looks pretty good.
It is on ebay. Item number: 160348825549. Wont let me post a link
Memory foam on pocket springs!
Can someone find a catch or is the mattress for me and maybe a few others on here?

I'm afraid this mattress doesn't contain full size proper pocket springs. Instead it contains reflex foam encapsulated pocket springs which are usually much smaller and don't give as good support. There are many mattresses like this on the market that try to give the impression that they are the same as high quality pocket sprung and memory foam mattresses, but they are'nt really any better that low quality reflex foam/memory foam mattresses. Reflex foam encapsulated pocket springs are even sometimes made from plastic, and I have even seen them made from barrel shaped pieces of reflex foam.
The springs are also surrounded by reflex foam meaning that air can't circulate through the spring layer to dissipate the heat.
The Coolmax fabric will help to keep moisture away from your body, which will help to stop you feeling clammy, but it isn't the same as climate control fabrics like Climasmart and Outlast.
The memory foam is the right depth at 2", but the density is low at 50kg per m3, and won't give very good support.
You would be better off with a good quality opencoil sprung/memory foam mattress.0 -
just measuring it now - finally found blasted tape measure.
It isssssss....... 54" wide, 76" long - give or take .... so looking at that seems like its really a double?
Could've swore it was a queen
The bed itself is a pine bed, don't know what make but its your fairly typical pine design, and believe the design itself was an "Emma" (name reminded me of an ex - don't tell the missus)
Hmmm I wonder if its worth upgrading bedsize - tho floor space might be an issue - any excuse to get further distance between us tho :rotfl:0 -

Yes that is a standard UK double. Some people used to call them queen size, but it just got confusing because a US queen size is the same as our king size.0 -

The Alternative (Which we have done) is to get the Outlast Mattress Protector from either John Lewis or M&S -we got the John Lewis one for £78 -yes its £18 but this way you dont need another protector and its machine washable & able to be tumble dried.0 -
