    Hi Tim,

Thanks for the help. Will get hardboard made up if we buy this bed.

Thanks for the advice. Can you recommend anywhere/models of Individual Pocket Sprung mattresses that you feel are more reasonable? At present there is the 50% WE sale however I think this is probably a 'constant' sale and I have another 10% discount code as well. Inc delivery and 'set up' in a king size, the price is:

    Total: £781.20

I'm afraid I'm not allowed to advise on makes or retailers....sorry.

If the cover is cotton, then it must be treated with fire retardant chemicals to comply with British standard fire regulations.

Itisn't worth getting a pocket sprung mattress for a small child as they won't be heavy enough to compress the springs to benefit from the contouring. You would be better off buying a good quality open coil sprung mattress, then using a hypoallergenic mattress protector.

Thanks so much for the advice, Tim. Moneysaving without feeling like a bad parent. I love it! :D.
  • Anyone know anything about this:

I am looking for a bed for my 3 year old, is this suitable? What is the mattress like? I really don't know anything about beds and i keep reading don't go for the big brands, there are not really any bed stores where I live so am resorting to the internet.

It's very difficult to say as the seller appears to know nothing about beds. They don't say anything about the spring tension/firmness, the type of quilting, the depth of the mattress, or the make.

I'd ask a few more questions if I were you.
  • Hi

I am buying my first house and also my first bed.

    I want a King size
    Medium support
Neither me nor my wife are heavy (my 10 1/2 stone, wife less) or have bad backs
    We hate hot beds
Have no idea what pocket sprung, latex, memory foam etc etc actually are.
Willing to spend up to £1000 in total, frame and bed and just want a comfortable nights sleep and a bed which will last.

    Cheers

    Hello Micky D

    Welcome to the MSE site.

We have a big 'Mattress' thread in the 'I wanna' board, which has lots of helpful information and tips. Click on the link below to see the thread:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1026667

Please post a reply here on this thread to let me know that you've read my post.............then I'll move your thread across to the 'I wanna' board to merge it with the existing mattress thread. I would usually move a thread straight away but as you're a new member, I didn't want you to think that your thread has been deleted;).

    Regards

The Solstice Divan Set contains 1000 Pocket Springs and memory foam, which contours to the natural shape of the body offering increased comfort and superb feel. The extra memory foam pillow top with a sumptuous quilted cover creates an exceptionally supportive and comfortable sleeping experience. Saw this at Dreams and no wherelse with quilted cover. Nearly over 1k for a king size bed. Does anybody know where I can get it cheaper, I have seen it but with hand tufted and I do not like it prefer quilted. Thanks

It appears to be made specially for Dreams. This usually means that it is over priced, and made to a low spec.
