I'm now considering upgrading to a king size or even superking size bed at the same time as buying the new mattress. Our current one being a double pine bed.
However, although I'd rather have a divan (so it doesnt have a slatted base), I really need the under bed storage that a pine offers, as I hold cases and allsorts under there.
Speaking to my parents today and my mother mentioned that you can get some divans that flip up the end to allow loads of access? Any idea what these types would be?
Drawers would be no use to me and more problematic, as some of the items such as large 1000 disc storage cases are way too heavy and oversized to go in them (and I remember an older single bed drawer divan when used to live with parents I broke the drawers frequently by too much weight being in them), so really need something that gives easy and wide access to the floor underneath.0 -

The type of bed you are talking about is called an ottoman bed. However the ottoman divans are usually only designed to keep bedding in, so may not be suitable.
You may find a bedstead more suitable with drawers on castors that go underneath.0 -
As the very happy owner of a La Romantica Madrid mattress I can only reiterate that we've had no problems with getting too hot/sweaty. Our bedroom is a loft room which always gets hot in summer and I must admit that, initially, the thought of foam on a mattress was a concern but we haven't had any such problems even during the recent very hot weather. We just use a normal quilted mattress protector under the fitted sheet and that works fine for us - we've never slept better..0

how much was that (and where did you get it from)
We've got a double with 4 drawer base so it wont compare as you want a king.
This is where we got it from and prices for different combinations of king size.0 -
We've finally given up on our Silentnight mattress after two years, delves and bumps all over and very noisy. Now looking at Sleepeeze Cool Comfort 1400 memory foam and pocket sprung mattress for £350 (five year guarantee) - seemed really comfortable when we tried it (but there again so did the Silentnight mattress) Anyone got any thoughts on this. Second best is the Stream Line mattress plus outlast extra (10 year guarantee). Any thoughts on that - thanks in advance..0

This is the answer I gave to someone else the other day about the first one:
1). If as they say in the listing they are the manufacturer, then they wouldn't be calling the super king size a 2000 pocket sprung, and the double 1500 pocket sprung. The industry standard is to quote the number of springs in a king size mattress. So for example if a king size mattress had 1000 springs, then a super king size would have 1200, but would still be called a 1000 pocket sprung mattress. The seller doesn’t clarify this, so it appears that they may be attempting to mislead.
2). The memory foam is 3” deep, which is too deep unless you like being hot in bed.
3). It doesn’t mention the density of the memory foam. This is usually an indication that it is poor quality low density foam.
4). The mattress is non turn so won’t last as long as a 2 sided one. This is very important with pocket springs.
5). They compare it to a Dreams own brand mattress that are well known for being low spec and over priced.
6) Their feedback says that they aren’t even as good as the Dreams own brand.
7). It says direct from the manufacturer, but I doubt that the seller is the manufacturer when he only gives a mobile number.
8). They don’t appear to have a satisfaction guarantee.
As for the second one, I could really say the same with the addition that they are talking complete rubbish about pillow tops being cooler, and their so called air flow layer of reflex foam. As soon as you lay on the bed any ridges would be squashed flat, and qouldn't allow any air flow through them. At least the second one has a good density of memory foam.0 -

Read the guarantee conditions very carefully. I suspect that they are warranties that are on a sliding scale, and have loads of get out clauses.0
