thanks for the info mate, ive emailed the seller about brand and where it is made.

Also ask who the company was that went bust, as I'm suspicous as they have been selling a lot of these, and it would be a huge stock for any company in trouble to hold.

Also did you check the size of your base? A UK double is 6'3" long, but a continental is 6'6" long.

yep, think we have a UK one, so this one is no good, gutted!

    back to square one!

    we currently use: http://www.mattressman.co.uk/sealy/mattresses/mattresses/double/P256S0L/posturepedic_memory_support.aspx

had it for 3 years, all in all its ok, hear a few springs go BOING... sometimes, my son (3 year old) wet it the 2 days ago and we found out the next day (we had just taken off the protector too!) - i just cant sleep on it now knowing it has been baby wetted as there is quite a large stain, so gona get rid of it i think which is the safest thing to do knowing that there will be bacteria growing inside :( hence need to buy a replacement but not looking to spend loads this time.

Tim ,i know you cant link to anything but can you recommend any decent brands to look at?

You are lucky to get one of those to last 3 years.........but the spring noise could be an indication of spring failure. Did you know Sealy are part of the Silentnight group?

I'm afraid I'm not allowed to recommend anything, sorry.

It all depends on your budget, as only those containing full size steel pocket springs would be worth getting. Also you have to be careful not to get one of the reflex foam encapsulated pocket spring mattresses that I mentioned earlier.

You might be better off going for a good quality open coil sprung/memory foam mattress to keep the price down.

    Hi
Can someone (well, probably Tim) advise me on what budget i should be looking at for 2 Mattresses:
    1) a King Size (5ft) for 2 Adults -one with slightly dodgy back so should it be memory foam & pocket Springs?
    2) a Single for a 4 yr old for a Cabin Bed.

    Cheers

It really depends on what your budget is, as there are loads of options?

was thinking around £500 for the King and £75 for the single.

Also, like the idea of the Pocket & Memoriy but not sure about heat retention as i prefer to be cooler than hotter.

You are looking ar around the right price brackets to buy on line. However if you are worried about the heat then some are available with climate control fabrics like Climasmart or Outlast (not coolmax) for a bit more.
