This is a mid range open coil sprung mattress, and is medium to firm. It doesn't state the depth, but looks to be about 7" deep.Paulgold27 wrote: »mattressesworld.co.uk/p/Perfect_Night_Ortho_Mattress £144

According to mattressworld this one has a 13 gauge spring unit which would make it medium, but according to Kozeesleep it has a 12.5 gauge spring unit which would make it firm. It is 10" deep, and is mid to upper end of the open coil sprung range. You are heading in the right direction with this one.0 -
Ok, I think im getting there.....
So I have now sourced another couple of mattresses about the same price but only 9" deep.
Can you give me your opinion on these?
mattressnextday.co.uk/mattress/166/Dorlux-Ortho-Luxury-600 £195
mattressnextday.co.uk/mattress/13/Sprungland-Madrid-Chester-Ortho £163
Also just to say thank you so so much for helping me, just wish there were people like you in the big chain stores to help me in what I want.0 -

Hi Folks, I have been looking for a new kingsize mattress to replace our old springy one. I want to go for a pocket spring one with memory foam topwith a max budget of £300 . have come across Memory_Pocket_1000_Mattress on mattressworld for £289 but need some views on it. I am aware that it a non turnable one but cant seem to find a better one in my budget. I want a medium firm to firm mattress. Any advise and help would appreciated.0

This mattress contains reflex foam encapsulated pocket springs. These are often much smaller than the full size steel springs, and don't give as good support. Sometimes the springs are made of plastic, and I have even seen them made from barrel shaped foam ( I suppose that technically springs don't have to be steel).
Another thing that leads me to thing that it contains smaller springs is that it comes vacuum packed. You can't roll up and vacuum pack full size pocket springs without damaging them.
For the price you would be better off with a good quality open coil sprung/memory foam mattress.0 -

You do know that it is a continental double, and not a UK double don't you?
The memory foam is a bit too deep, and is on top of reflex foam, so it will probably be quite hot.
The density of the memory foam will give very good support, but will have a very slow recovery rate. So it could be difficult to change position.
If the above are ok for you, then the price seems very very good as long as it isn't made in China. So find out where it is made, and what make it is.0 -
