The Joseph mattress is a middle to low end medium open coil sprung mattress.

The Saturn is a high end firm open coil sprung mattress, but at £279 is way over priced. How did you find out it was made by Highgate?

Well I noticed the make when I was looking around Sussex Beds and researched it. We really like that mattress and would buy it but cant find it cheaper anywhere else. would you be able to recommend anywhere I can get it for less than £259 with free delivery?

This mattress is also a King so im assuming that affects the price.

I dont know what you mean by which model?

Im buying a kingsize from Homebase and really like the Highgate Saturn mattress.

The best price I can currently get is £269 delivered.

Also how long would I expect this mattress to last me?

You were also asking about the Joseph mattress, so I didn't know which one you were refering to.

I can't find the Saturn cheaper anywhere else either, but at £269 it is very very expensive for what it is. It is a very basic design of 12.5 gauge open coil sprung with deep layers of upholstery and is hand tufted. Almost all bed manufacturers will have an equivalent.

As for how long it will last......Highgate are middle of the range, so if it is looked after then you should be looking at a minimum of 6 or 7 years.

I don't think they do, but I'm looking into it at the moment.

There is a big gap in prices between open coil sprung and pocket sprung. So you wouldn't get a good quality pocket sprung one for that price, but you can get a top of the range open coil sprung one for under £200.

I'm afraid I'm not allowed to recommend anything.

The make is a good guide. Stay away from the big brand names, as you don't tend to get as much for your money.

Make sure it has 12.5 gauge springs. These should be open coil springs rather than any continuous spring system (they tend to be unreliable).

You should be looking at 9.5 to 10" depth, with a damask cover.

If the top of the mttress looks very flat, then the chances are that it doesn't contain much quilting.

Make sure it is a turnable mattress, and stay away from gimmicks like pillow tops.

If you are still in doubt, then ask.
