I'm sure they're comparing to the perception rather than the reality.0

Can anyone help. I am looking for a new super kingsize pocket sprung/memory foam mattress. Is there any particular number of springs I should be looking for and what about memory foam depth?
I have seen a mattress of ebay described as MEMORY FOAM 2000 POCKET SPRING SUPER KING SIZE MATTRESS with 3 inches of memory foam. Does anyone know if this is any good?
Thanks0 -

The industry standard is to quote the number of springs in a king size mattress (although not all stick to this). So for example a 1000 pocket sprung mattress should have 1000 springs in a king size mattress, and 1200 in a super king size, but it would still be called 1000 pocket sprung.
Ideally you should be looking at between 1000 and 1800 pocket springs (king size).
As for the memory foam 2 to 2.5" is the optimum, and a density of between 60 and 70kg per m3.
If you can find a two sided mattress it will last far longer.0 -
Just a quick update re the La Romantica Madrid. Our bed is in a loftroom which does tend to get quite hot during the summer months. Well, the weather's been very hot here lately and we've suffered no overheating or sweatiness whatsoever..... :j
Continuing to turn and flip the mattress every few weeks and no signs of any problems so far.0 -
I vote for good quality latex mattresses over the inner coil ones.

You can get 2 sided pocket sprung with full latex, which gives the best of both worlds.0 -
I am looking for a reasonably priced but comfortable single mattress.0

Hi Tim
After reading a lot of this forum I think I have estiblish that a pocket sprung memory foam turnable is the best bed. I now know the memory foam should be 2" thick, however I do have a question regarding the memory foam.
Apologies if this sound stupid but does it automatically sink down the 2" or does it depend on the weight of the person. I have tried a few beds in the shops which didnt seem to sink at all, but I was told that it the warmth of your body that make it sink. My husband is heavier than me so would this mean he dips in the bed more, so I would roll into him if I lay close to him or does it sink only slightly. It is very difficult to get the feel for a bed when you cant sleep in it.0
