I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on the 'Highgate Healthopaedic Silk 1000' single mattress.
Thank you.0 -
I tried it in a shop and it seemed comfortable. It's non-turn though, so probably not a great investment.
I recently bought a mattress and have been having problems with it sagging in the middle, giving me back pain.
The shop have now offered to let me 're-select' another mattress but will not refund me, so I have to choose something of roughly equivalent value as they won't refund the difference if I choose something cheaper. So I don't have a great deal of choice.
Thanks for the response.0 -

Which bed did you get? How solid does it feel? How is the memory foam - is it hot, or do you sink in or stick to it? Do the bed sheets get stuck to it and need constant refitting? What's the support like - will it be good for bad backs?
For all the dozens of times I've seen La Romantica beds mentioned in this thread, I've yet to hear any solid customer reviews - perhaps you'd be good enough to provide one?
I see there's a Madrid on ebay at the moment, from a chap with a bad back who doesn't like it, which is rather worrying as the sales blurb goes on about osteopath recommendations (obliquely and vaguely though...), Nasa technology and the like. But that's the only impartial review I've seen so far - I am happy to be directed to more positive reviews, especially from those who have had it a long time - pretty much ALL new beds are good in the short term, so reviews on how long their mattresses last would be useful. Strangely, the seller(s) go silent when this question is asked...

I might just do that, although I'll be filtering out those who registered on this site after the start of this thread, just to be on the safe side...Given your posting history, you seem remarkably well informed about the people who have bought LR beds...0 -

You can disregard my opinions then because that's exactly what I did. Our old mattress gave up the ghost and we found this place whilst searching the web looking for advice on replacements. If you think that's in some way suspicious or necessarily precludes an honest and objective opinion, good luck to you.0 -

He/she might just have done a simple forum search which is probably what you should have done.0 -

Yes that's right. When the number of springs is quoted it should be the number of sprungs in a king size mattress. However sometimes retailers don't follow this to try and confuse.0 -
Hi,
I am looking to buy a new king size mattress soon as the current one is giving both husband and myself lower back pain.
In the past have just opted for something around £100-150 but are now looking to spend more in order to get a good nights sleep!
We are both overweight so any recommendations or advice on what type of mattress to look in order to get the support (will probably need to be firm) - in particular advice on memory foam versus traditional.
Many thanks.0 -

It would all depend on the weight you actually prefer (rather than what you think you need), the type of base you are putting it on, and your budget?0 -
Thanks for your reply. We are looking for a firm mattress to go on to a pine bedframe. Our budget is up to £500 approx but that is the absolute max.
