From planning to buy a brand new kingsize bed & mattress, we are now resigned to keeping our slatted pine double bed and replacing the battered old mattress.

Have read this forum, reviews etc all over and still think a pocket sprung is best for us. We're both pretty big people! Debating whether two sided memory foam with pocket sprung would be suitable; I'm sure it's been answered/commented on many times before but I am concerned about extra heat, especially in summer and how different memory foam is to sleep on when used to a knackered old mattress!

Have checked the slats on our bed and the gap between them is fine based on advice on here. Just looking for any comments/advice from those who have double sided memory foam pocket sprung??? TIA.
    MARRIED MR E - 22nd Dec 2010 - technically now sazzye!:j
AIMS FOR 2012: LOSE WEIGHT/GET FIT! PREPARE FOR BABY-TRYING! OVERPAY MORTGAGE BEFORE MOVING HOUSE, DO UP HOUSE TO MOVE, SAVE SAVE SAVE - SOLICITORS FEES, STAMP DUTY ETC ETC. :eek:HELP HELP HELP!

My La Romantica Venice feels a lot firmer than my crappy old mattress, but at the same time its comfortable with a soft surface, if that makes sense!

Hey to let everyone know that I received my new La Romantica Venice beds yesterday from Bed Kingdom (www.bedkingdom.co.uk). The mattresses are firmer than I expected, but that may be because my old mattress was so soft and useless! The mattresses do seem great though and I love the memory foam! They arrived 1pm as expected. There was a problem at first as one of the sets of draws was without drawers but they have now already replaced them with a set with drawers, excelllent service! The deliverers were really helpful, took away old items and carried upstairs all the beds and mattresses as requested.

Ashley at Bed Kingdom was also really helpful and even said that if I recommend my friends to his company they would give them extra discount. So mention me (Vijay) and you may get a bit more discount!!!! :T:D

Alex and Ashley explained to me that Bed Kingdom are a new(ish) company that has only been going since last year and they seem to be prepared to go that extra mile to give value for money and satisfy customers. 10/10 from me. :j

    Vijay

Thanks for the update. Like someone else on here (m.r.davies I think) I am also interested in the La romantica Madrid or Venice, so it was useful to hear what you thought of the Venice. If the Venice is the softer of the two mattresses, I guess the Madrid must be really firm then. I have a really old useless mattress so I really have no idea what they should be like! Thanks for your help and if I decide to go with Bed kingdom you may just become my good friend Vijay! Cheers.

    what would be useful is
if someone can advise which mattresses are similar to these 2 in dreams. then we'd all know what to expect.
can anyone help out in this area?

maybe someone on here who has one already
and has the time could help?

There are now 148 pages in this thread. I'd love to say I have time to read them all, but I don't.

Can anyone post a summary of the topic so far? What are the top 5 choices for mattresses?

My husband and I need a new mattress asap. Our current one lasted for less than 3 years and it definitely wasn't cheap.

It all depends on a few factors:
    1. What is your budget?
    2. What size of mattress are you after?
    3. What type of spring system do you want?
    4. How firm do you like your mattress?
    5. What type of base is the mattress to go on?
Out of interest, what was your previous mattress?

    1. What is your budget? - £300-£350 at a guess
    2. What size of mattress are you after? - Double
    3. What type of spring system do you want? - Not bothered
    4. How firm do you like your mattress? - Firmish, not rock hard
    5. What type of base is the mattress to go on? - Slated, but tiny gaspa s per my previous post
Out of interest, what was your previous mattress - Silentnight?

Based on that would the Lovell be a reasonable choice?
    ..........Insert amusing tagline here..........
